I want to thank everyone who left such nice comments to my last 2 entries. I really appreciate all the good thoughts and wishes. Monday seems like a whole world ago now in some ways. The end of mom's life, and really, the many years preceding it have been an ordeal, for us and for her. It is such a relief to have her on her way to a better place, ( Read more... )

My dad spent the last several years of his life demented. I know what you mean about missing who they were while they are still here.
Strangely the memorial we had for him was a very joyful event. We also had photos of him from when he was young and we all loved looking
at them. I hope you all have a good time.

I felt strangely joyful the first few days too. That is fading a little now. Maybe I was catching a vibe of the joy mom was feeling herself being released from the misery her life had become - that's what I'd like to think anyway. There is still a great peace though - I'm glad it is over and it was "good".
