Here's some pictures that I took last Friday when Dave and I were scouting out places to view the upcoming eclipse. We wouldn't need to go that far north to get to a place to see totality (even Cochranton would do - 10 miles away) but we wanted to get as many minutes of totality as possible and that means getting as close to Lake Erie as possible. I like those rocks too. Many of them look like they were once single rocks, that broke into 2s or 3s. And they have great shapes!

There was a lot of slate in this area too. Maybe why there are so many flat, but now rounded rocks

I hear the previous total eclipse was pretty crazy. So as you said, you'll need to get there early, but don't underestimate what early is.
