Here's some pictures that I took last Friday when Dave and I were scouting out places to view the upcoming eclipse. We wouldn't need to go that far north to get to a place to see totality (even Cochranton would do - 10 miles away) but we wanted to get as many minutes of totality as possible and that means getting as close to Lake Erie as possible. The totality will pass through the center of Lake Erie, west to east. Anyway, the first place we looked was Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. It would have been perfect except for no restrooms. So we were heading to the shore of Lake Erie over by Ohio where there is a game lands. On the way Dave remembered that there is a boat launch at Elk Creek. The boat launch is now part of the relatively new (2004) Erie Bluffs State Park. It ticks all the boxes: bathrooms, hiking trails to pass the time (need to get there early to get a parking spot and need to wait till traffic clears afterwards) and beautiful natural scenery. Hopefully not that many other people will have the same idea and it won't be too crowded there. And hopefully the weather will cooperate that day.
A place where you can walk down from the bluffs to the water's edge.
I liked these rocks.
This is up on the bluffs. It doesn't look that high but it is. A straight 90' drop here. Made me queasy to get close to the edge. Many trails through the woods. Dave and I explored about a third of them the day we were there.

Today we take our taxes to Titusville to our tax lady. It's snowing and cold at the moment. About a half inch of snow on the ground when we woke up this morning.
