I find it all rather irrelevant. As a writer, the number 1 rule is to tell the story in the best way possible. Choosing to market a book as nonfiction is, in and of itself, a tricky idea because, as you point out, everything comes down to memory and perspective. Nonfiction isn't necessarily about the absolute truth and perfect facts. It's about getting to the emotional truth of something, which is a bit fuzzier. How people felt betrayed or upset about this is beyond me. Did you enjoy the story? The style of writing? Those are the only things that should matter. It doesn't matter from which section at your local Borders that you find the book. It's a marketing issue.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm overdue for a trip to the gym (or any kind of exercise for that matter!), but right now the roads are covered in snow which is supposed to switch over to sleet and freezing rain within the next hour or two. I've decided to go with the comfy night at home watching movies. LOL
