I haven't read the book, but I was taking a nonfiction class right after the whole "scandal" broke. I remember people mentioning that he "lied" about the amount of time he spent in jail, and then also included some factually incorrect information about a death...Like he wasn't there but claimed he was in the book.

I find it all rather irrelevant. As a writer, the number 1 rule is to tell the story in the best way possible. Choosing to market a book as nonfiction is, in and of itself, a tricky idea because, as you point out, everything comes down to memory and perspective. Nonfiction isn't necessarily about the absolute truth and perfect facts. It's about getting to the emotional truth of something, which is a bit fuzzier. How people felt betrayed or upset about this is beyond me. Did you enjoy the story? The style of writing? Those are the only things that should matter. It doesn't matter from which section at your local Borders that you find the book. It's a marketing issue.

i'd really wanted to go to the gym tonight but theres no way i'm going out in this weather

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm overdue for a trip to the gym (or any kind of exercise for that matter!), but right now the roads are covered in snow which is supposed to switch over to sleet and freezing rain within the next hour or two. I've decided to go with the comfy night at home watching movies. LOL

i wanna go somewhere for spring break too! lots of people are asking me, and many are like "you gotta go somewhere after your internship", but as of now i don't have any plans. i was thinking maybe roadtripping to west texas, great smoky mountains, or just new orleans if i can find an accomplice... i'm really not the type to go to college hot spot party beaches in mexico, south padre, etc.

you didn't have any foreign profs before?

he over fabricated a few things and the publisher i believe knew it and still classified it as an auto bio.

it's so good. make sure to read "my friend leonard" it's sort of a sequel--and it's great.
