I saw Selah's hair had a snarl in it, so I asked her to bring me the detangling spray and the brush. I thoroughly soaked her hair with the detangler, and started gently brushing at just the ends of her hair. She immediately started trembling and said, "It hurtssssssss." Uh ...? See, I think that if she's determined to have a meltdown, then now is the time to do all of the horrible things to her that need doing....like combing out that snarl, etc. This is probably why I don't have kids. :D

Perhaps. I thought I could avoid getting her started by letting it go for awhile. But once she got started, the best way to deal with it was to ignore her, (not feed into crying/whining/hysterics as an attention-getter), which is why I didn't re-engage the hair issue.

But it will have to be addressed some time today, and if she wants to cry then, well, we'll just have to go ahead and finish the job anyway.

Of course I looked for a picture from Mommie Dearest where she's brushing Tina's hair but couldn't find one :(
