About a year ago, I went for a consultation on Lasik surgery at the office of Stephen Dell, brother of Michael and one of the best eye surgeons in Austin. Unfortunately I was told in no uncertain terms that my vision is so terrible (one of my contacts is -10; the other is -9.5) that they'd have to take off too much of my cornea. Last Saturday at work, the Georgian TV feed was showing "Red Dawn," badly dubbed into Russian, of course. Is that irony? Or just awesomeness?

Man. As somebody on Gawker said, Morgan Freeman really dodged a flipping bullet.

Had a lovely, relaxing week in Arkansas. We went to the lake for the weekend, mostly to hang out. Went into the town of Heber Springs on Saturday and checked out the visitor center at the dam, which was edifying.
