Poll IMPORTANT QUESTIONI am scared that I will be required to drink sherry, in which case I'd have to do a complete rethink of my life plans. Maybe it depends on the kind of cat lady one is. That was my second fear. I dislike gin unless I am allowed sloe gin which does not count but would fulfil the "dubious fruit-based lethality" aspect of home-madedness.

I'm sure if you had made the sloe gin, you would definitely be allowed it. In fact, any sort of homemade alochol would qualify. Elderflower wine, that sort of thing.

Actually, I think the old ladies in Arsenic and Old Lace poisoned their gentleman callers with their elderberry wine. I forget now. And they didn't have cats anyway.

That is a mere detail.

Elderberry wine is a cunning choice, as any poison taste would be put down to the Horror of Home-Made Wine and politely ignored.

Sterno. Definitely Sterno. What could be better than delicious blindness-inducing jellied denatured alcohol? And if one really must, one can use it for cooking.
