Throne stood on the other side of the door with his hand on the nob, staring down at it -- cool metal clutched loosely between his fingers -- as if it was something independent of his own body and he was trying to will it to move. He had, to put it lightly, not been looking forward to this morning. Granted, there was a part of him that felt anxious and rushed, practically tripping over itself to see Bastet and to apologize. But, there was a bigger part still that found him making excuses in bed that morning -- blaming the cold floor and the chilly air and the fact that Want was so damn warm -- all in hopes of possibly keeping him there and not up and awake and dressed, thus ridding him of any reason not to see Bastet ( ... )

Bastet blinked at Throne's voice coming through the door--well, that would certainly save her a trip later. "Yeah, kiddo, I'm sure," she said, standing and moving to the door. She normally would have let him come in on his own, but she wanted to make sure he knew she was actively welcoming him into her home ( ... )

Throne shuffled in quietly after Bastet, making a point to shut the door behind him as quietly and carefully as possible. It'd been a while since he'd visited her last -- properly visited her. Between invasions and hurricane and air conditioners up in Section Four, more often then not they found themselves meeting up in the Marketplace or at the Access Point or on his home turf. So be here, in Bastet's home -- newly re-made, freshly furnished, with her things tucked here and there, the proof of her life in the Sphere -- it made Throne slightly uncomfortable, like he was trespassing into a place he no longer should have access to.

Because as small as Want had thought their argument had been, Throne could still feel how bad it had made him felt -- her refusal to listen or even continue the conversation like some kind of rejection. And as bad as Bastet's pulling away had made him feel, Throne felt even worse about the fact that he'd been the one who'd caused it ( ... )

As Bastet moved around readying the tea, she could feel Throne's nervousness, completely different from their normal comfortable, playful interactions. "Oh, I slept fine, thanks." This was wrong, this awkwardness between them. "This is lemon ginger tea," she said calmly, pushing his cup forward. "So maybe you'll like it better than green or black tea." She'd noticed he mostly seemed to drink tea to be polite; hopefully this was different enough for him to be able to enjoy it.

Instead of returning to her seat across from him, she moved one seat over so she was sitting next to him, her legs folded in front of her. She decided to take the chance--if he pulled away, he pulled away.

Bastet lifted her hand, placing it on his head and threading her fingers through his hair. "I'm sorry I upset you." She could say that with complete honesty, even if they wound up ultimately disagreeing on other things.
