Ugh.
Blackjack rolled over, trying to pull the thin camp-provided pillow over his ears, and ultimately meeting with no success. Groaning, he sat up and reached for a pack of cigarettes. Ugh. This--this would never do. No privacy, no anything...true, he didn't want to be in the hurricane, either, but "roughing it" was unacceptable.
He lit his cigarette and took a drag, woozily looking over the cabin. It looked like a few people were there already--he could see their things--but he couldn't see anyone else, at least not yet. Hm. Maybe he could go back to sleep after all.

"G'morning, sunshine." Amusement was apparent in Gene's voice as he caught sight of the man sitting up in bed. He could understand sleeping in, but it was impressive that someone would manage to last this long in their current boarding situation.

And then he spoke. Sunshine. Blackjack, in response, arched an eyebrow and gave him a look, then exhaled a small cloud of smoke. "It's too damn early." His voice was even still raspy from sleep, though undoubtedly the cigarette only aggravated it.

The arched brow received a matching one in turn, paired with a smirk. "I think it's nearly one," he said, not weighing in on whether he thought it was early or not. He doubted this guy particularly cared. Strolling over to the bunk where he had tossed his stuff, Gene started rummaging around.
"Damnit, don't tell me I forgot to pack the cards..." he muttered to himself as he sifted through his duffle bag. As convenient as the Wilderness was for storm relief, he could tell it would get boring quick without a few diversions. He had hoped to crash in the mess hall for a bit and wrangle a couple of takers for a game of poker, but it seemed like his plans were destined to be derailed.

He'd helped out the farm bring down as much as possible and had finally found the cabin he'd been assigned to. Compared to the shitty-insulation in the section 1 houses, this wasn't so bad. Surrounded by the smell of wood and a storm raging above, it definitely felt nostalgic even without proper memories.
All his shit was finally packed into the cabin and a quick glance around showed he was the first one here. Cookbooks were strewn onto his bed, which he left to leaf through later. For now he stood at the porch, cigarette between lips and watched through half-lidded eyes at activity going around.

He looked up at the man's approach. One hand patted the top of the dog's head kindly enough before finding it's way back into a pocket. "Yo! You one of my bunk-mates?" He'd be lying if he wasn't disappointed that it hadn't been a woman, but there wasn't much he could do about the shitty-cabin choices.

"It seems that way," he responded simply, taking a moment to scrutinize the other equally-drenched man. No one he'd ever met before, he was fairly certain, but at least he didn't seem to mind the dog. Of course, if they were going to be spending the next few days sharing living quarters, introductions were probably in order. He bowed. "My name is Rain."
And wanting nothing more at that moment then to change into some dry clothes, Rain turned to the cabin door, only to stop and scowl at it (or rather, the sign on it) in puzzlement. "...Jackalope?"

And there was no reason not to enjoy that. She was currently inspecting the trees along the shoreline, trying to decide which one would be best to take an afternoon nap under, and humming quite cheerily under her breath.

He sat on the lake dock, his boots and socks off, one bare foot dangling in the water. He'd been surprised that it was still summer-like here, but that could only help if they were trapped down here a while.
Sky's thoughts were elsewhere, however. The evacuation had been a distraction from thinking about Ghost, and imagining how he'd react, worrying if Blood was down there and safe and not insisting on helping the Guard, complaining the whole time, wondering if he really was gone or if he should hold onto the tiny bit of hope that he'd just rehatch in a few days... like he always had...
Sky took in a deep breath, splashing with his foot and wondering where Inara was. He spotted someone unfamiliar wandering on the lake shore and gave her a small wave.

"I think you have a good idea," she said when she was close enough to speak comfortably. Dangling one's feet in the water seemed like a relaxing prospect.

Stop it. Just STOP IT.
"I'm a member of the Watch, so I've spent the past few days helping the evacuation. I'll take a break when I can get it, and this seemed like a nice place."

Oh well. He could wait.
He noticed a little girl collecting flowers not far away. The scene was hugely contrasted with the sense of urgency that had permeated the evacuation. When he thought she might've been looking in his general direction, he raised one hand in a small wave. "Hello."

She stood up and offered a curtsy with her candy-striped red and white skirt, being careful not to lose her wildflower bouquet. "Hi ♥"

"My name is Kid."

Though, given how bad everyone here seemed to be about keeping floors clean...
But he had managed to find a cabin with space for both him and his little sister, and was looking forward to who else would be sharing with them while they stayed here - it would be interesting to get to know new people.]

She smiled, deftly shuffling the cards together. She liked it here in the camp- it was warm and fun! The food was pretty good, and everyone was down here. She might even put on a magic show! That would be fun.]

Seeing Thalassa and Daitou, the boy couldn't remember if he'd seen any of them before, but figured that they would remind him if that was the case. Dumping his things on a free bed - the bunk beds were confusing, but he got the general idea of them - he then seemed rather lost at what to do.]
