on the edges of the camp, wherever flowers are. interrupt plz? pinkmoonrabbit October 13 2010, 04:45:47 UTC
Sailormoon couldn't remember camp. Nothing felt familiar at all. Regardless, camping out in the woods was something new and exciting. And so Sailormoon found herself out in the flowers, collecting all the new flowers in the Wilderness. Some felt familiar. Others did not. But all together, they smelled wonderful! Surely they would brighten up the place. And she could always put some in her hair, too.

There was a very good chance that Kid wasn't familiar with camps either, though in a strange way, there was the slightest bit of familiarity in the idyllic outdoors. He stood on the edge of a field of flowers, leaning against a tree, wishing he had a cigarette at that very moment. Alas, he had gotten a job, but that went un-worked with the sudden emergency evacuation. Not working meant not getting paid, and not getting paid meant no extra money for cigarettes and booze.

Oh well. He could wait.

He noticed a little girl collecting flowers not far away. The scene was hugely contrasted with the sense of urgency that had permeated the evacuation. When he thought she might've been looking in his general direction, he raised one hand in a small wave. "Hello."

She looked up and grinned, a bunch of daisies, black-eyed susans, and some dandelions gathered in her hands. She didn't recognize Kid, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to extend a hand of friendship.

She stood up and offered a curtsy with her candy-striped red and white skirt, being careful not to lose her wildflower bouquet. "Hi ♥"

She seemed like a polite kid. He nodded in response. If he had a cigarette, he would have put it out, but since he didn't, he stood there, not knowing what else to do with his hands now that he'd waved.

"My name is Kid."

She grinned softly. "My name's Sailormoon. It's nice to meet you." She offered him one of her daisies.

Okay. Sailormoon was a weird name. There was no getting around that fact. But he supposed all their names were weird, in a way. Regardless.

"Nice to meet you too. And thank you." He took the flower by the stem. He briefly considered sniffing it, but the scent of flowers was already so heavy in the air that he wasn't sure it would have made much of a difference. "Why are you gathering flowers?"

Surely she couldn't have been gathering them all up for his sake, especially since she only offered him one. Diversion, maybe? She was a kid--just like he was. Kids usually knew how to amuse themselves.

Sailormoon had a lot of reasons behind her name and was always willing to speak about her dream, but not many did ask about where it came from. Regardless, she loved the name and had become rather attached to it.

"There's a girl in my cabin who seems really upset," Sailormoon replied. "I thought something cheerful might brighten her mood." She didn't even know the name of this mysterious girl, who was, although unknown to her, a somewhat effeminate boy. Not that it'd bother her either way. Someone in a sour mood needed something to brighten their day. That's at least how the pink-haired girl saw it.

"I also thought it'd be nice to collect flowers for my friends' hair too."

Kid smiled. It was small and easy to miss, but it reached his eyes, and perhaps that was more than enough.

"I see. That's rather thoughtful of you." And was something he'd never think of. "Do you need help?" He had time to kill and nothing to kill it with, after all. A few armfuls of flowers might be an interesting way to do it.

She smiled brightly. "Sure ♥! I'd love the company~" He was very sweet, she thought. Picking flowers with company was always the best way to go. It felt familiar, in a way, to have friends around all the time. And having a new friend was a good thing too.

She returned to picking flowers, removing a black-eyed susan carefully by the stem. "Have you been here long, Kid-chan?"

Kid wasn't sure it there was a specific way to pick a flower or not, so he watched as she plucked the next black-eyed susan. She did so delicately, pinching the stem gently until it snapped cleanly off. After observing one or two more, he joined in.

He did pause and blink upon hearing the '-chan' attached to his name. It was different, like hearing her own name spoken aloud. "Not really. I was born only a few weeks ago. How about you?"

"I've been here over a year," Sailormoon replied. Well over a year since she'd first arrived. She was reborn sometime after, but that wasn't technically her birthday. It was a second and another excuse to get someone to take her out for cake.

"How has the Sphere treated you so far? Good, I hope ♥"

"I see. Then even though I look like this, by that standard, you're older than me." It was his own small attempt at a joke. He noted the variety of flowers she held in her hands and decided to pick more than just black-eyed susans.

"It's good. I got a job and a place to stay. Though I haven't been able to actually work or live there because of the storm. Do you have a job? I heard that younger people have to work."

She giggled too. "I guess that's true!" It was a strange thought, being older than someone, even if it were by Spherian years. She guessed herself at about 10 and one of the youngest residents, but she had been here for a long time.

"That's good to here. I hope your job is fun when you get to do it after this storm is over," Sailormoon smiled. "I run the candy shop in the Bazaar. It's a lot of fun. I work with good friends ♥"

Kid guessed himself to be somewhere in his late teens. He had at least once been denied cigarette purchase in the Bazaar due to being underage, though whether that was in terms of just being born or his apparent age was uncertain. At least, to him. It was strange to think kids like Sailormoon or Apple were older than him--older in the sense that they hatched much earlier. He wasn't sure which was a more legitimate age: how long you existed outside of a cocoon or how old you might have been but had no recollection of actually being.

"You own the candy shop?" It was amazing the little girl didn't eat herself out of stock. "That's incredible."

She nodded, plucking another flower, this time a brilliant white daisy, from the ground. "Mhm ♥" She did love her candy and she ate quite a lot of it. There was just plenty left, too. "I really like it. I can decorate the shop. People like to come in to buy something to cheer them up. It's nice to see people happy."

"It must be a lot of work." And a lot of responsibility, especially for a girl her age. Hopefully her shop survived the hurricane. "I'll pay your store a visit sometime. When we're allowed back in the tree and I've gotten paid." Though he wasn't sure what sort of candy he'd be interested in getting, perhaps just seeing it would prove interesting enough.

"In the year you've been here for, has a hurricane like this happened before?" He'd seen some talk of past storms or whatever in the journals, but he'd been following evacuation procedures and didn't spend much time reading others' conversations.
