SINGING ACTION TIMES ofsong November 19 2009, 15:53:21 UTC
As soon as the karaoke machine was fixed, Goodbye was in there practicing. To tell the truth, she wasn't fond of a lot of the songs on it. A lot of them felt like they had the right music to her, but entirely the wrong lyrics. And the whole idea of singing someone else's lyrics felt wrong to her. But it wasn't as wrong as not singing at all, so she made do.

And "made do" meant that she practiced, and she practiced hard. For the past two days, she'd only let up her thorough investigation of the karaoke machine, what it contained, and how she could twist that to suit her voice long enough to eat and sleep, and sometimes she'd had to be prompted. Other times, she'd actually stumbled and almost collapsed on the stage.

No mistaking it: in her past life, she'd been a diva. But she'd been a genuinely hard-working one...or at least, she was willing to be now. It was hard to tell where these things came from.

By the night itself, Goodbye had settled on which songs she wanted and what alterations she'd make to make them hers. She needed the ( ... )

It certainly couldn't have been any more clear to Aimo, who came scrambling over, carrying a somewhat flimsy sign that had the words

☪ GOODBYE'S DEBUT

CONGRATULATIONS ♥

slathered on triumphantly with paint. She had, in fact, found the sparkling glitter for sale. The poster-board itself had to be salvaged, but it was cheaper that way! Besides, it was well worth it just to support her idol -- or, her sister, who might as well be her idol (and friendly competition? now wasn't the time to think of that) and for some reason this setting was all too familiar, but for once in the best of ways. Like she had been near that very stage, watching spellbound and unable to help singing along. Had she really been up there before as well, exactly the way she was in the dream? Would she do it again?

But that radiant smile pushed thoughts of her future aside, and she waved as the sign, a bit oversized for her, momentarily obscured her face.

The moment he had shown up at the bar, Aurora was all business. He'd looked around, assessing the damaging for himself and calculating how long it would take to repair purely by habit. The weather had been getting colder, unfortunately, meaning that efficiency would be reduced due to being hindered by proper clothing and the drop in motivation people seemed to suffer when the weather was poor.

Perhaps the entertainment would help draw in people. Not that Aurora was paying any attention to the scantily clad woman on the stage, or the girl advertising for her. Instead he found picking up debris far more interesting, starting piles for wood that could be salvaged and reused, and materials that were far too damaged to be handy.

Aimo's excitement was only building, as she waited hopefully for more people to arrive. It was the kind of excitement that made everything melt away, no matter what troubles were there before. The kind that causes you not to see the large plank of wood right behind you.

She fell backwards with a resounding yelp, and it was likely the only way she would have noticed the quiet person taking care of damages close by. Who probably looked much better right-side-up. Flushed with embarrassment, Aimo lifted herself into a sitting position. There was something about those feminine looks that struck a chord.

"So pretty..."

She didn't quite realize that she'd said it aloud.

Open to anyone! Have some refreshments and encouraging words~ temulance November 19 2009, 16:09:04 UTC
Cheers made sure to come, after all, this was important. Smoke's had become pretty much her second home...and with both places damaged in the fire, it wasn't exactly the easiest to adjust to. She had been getting out more, but still there was a sense she needed to keep that distance. She would try to push that away for now; today would be about Smoke's. She hoped Raise, Aurora, and Gundam would show up. It was odd to think that Range was no longer with them, but she mostly tried to keep a smile about that.

She wore a simple dress that she had picked up rather recently. She was off in the corner, listening to Goodbye as she organized drinks - nonalcoholic ones for once. Mostly just water and some juices she found. She kept her eyes on the people entering, smiling and waving at them all. She had to be thankful to people arriving, they were helping get her livelihood back after all. It was hard not to think about the fire, but seeing the faces of people happy again...it made her feel better, like she really was helping the Sphere.

Chapel wasn't normally the community-service type, despite his apparent former profession-after all, God helped those who helped themselves. And he was pretty good at helping himself. But the fire had been devastating-no one could claim its aftermath was none of their business.

And the bar was important. People gathered there; it was a good place to unwind and forge connections. Most importantly, the booze was there. So it only made sense for him to help out.

After a few minutes, he spotted a familiar but more-clothed figure and made his way over. "Hey there, sister." He grinned. "Hatched out of any gooey cocoons lately?"

Cheers saw the rather familiar face head towards her. It was easy to notice now he had clothes and wasn't in a bunch of goo as well. She gave a polite smile, nodding to acknowledge his approach.

"If I did, I'd surely would have invited you."She gave a little laugh. "How are you, Chapel? Fairing well, hopefully." She soon her attention back to the drinks.

"Would you like anything?" She looked back at him, brushing some hair from her face.

He chuckled. Cheers had a pretty good sense of humor; not bad to have in a 'sister.'

"I'm getting by. Can't complain about what the good lord's seen fit to give me," he said. "I'll take whatever's good." These days, as long as it was alcoholic, it was just fine with him.

Youth had agreed to come, and thus he was there. He didn't believe in neglecting agreements. Plus, he liked helping out. So dressed rather casually, Youth made his way to Smoke's bar and looked around. He hadn't seen it before the fires, so he had no frame of reference, but it looked like Smoke had put effort into this place. Youth wondered how long Smoke had been here to make something like that.

There wasn't any clear direction for how to start. But there was damage, and there were things that looked like they needed to be moved around. He could lift, at least. So, picking up a few things that looked like they belonged inside rather than out, Youth headed in.

"Hi there! I'm Smoke." The redhead extended a hand as he walked up to Youth. "You look like a pretty fit guy..." Smoke jerked his left thumb over his shoulder. "Can you check out how well the outer wall's holding up? I plan on putting a second story back on this thing."

"Hello, Smoke! I am Youth!" He happily took and shook Smoke's hand. "I work at staying in shape! It is very important."

Turning to look at where Smoke was indicating, Youth nodded. "And I can brace it, too! I have learned this so far. What will be on the second story?" He started taking a look at the wall, searching for cracks and damage.

"Still thinking about that and if there'll be a 3rd story. Before, there were games and lounge chairs up there. Oh and the booth for controlling the music if there isn't an event going on."

Smoke indicated the floor. "There's a stone base, but everything else'll end up being wood, I think, so if you can brace it that'd be awesome."

Kagerou had promised to help, so help she would! Now she even had pins in her hair to keep it from her eyes--surely this would mean an increase in efficiency, too. She'd helped to clear out the rubble yesterday, but by now, it might be easier to simply head in and ask for whatever odd jobs needed doing. She might have offered to wait tables, but while her hands were deft with tasks requiring finesse, it seemed her whole body had a somewhat different view on the issue of co-ordination, and glass was very breakable.

She would get better about that! But for now, she'd only carry things that could afford to be knocked around a little. No more havoc needed to be wreaked on this place. With that thought, and a smile at the ready, she stepped in through the doorway.

"Hey there, Kagerou-chan~" Smoke called out after speaking to Youth. "That's a cute hairstyle on you."

He walked over and gestured around. "Not quite the turn out I was hoping for just yet, but you never know, the night is young."

Hands on hips, he looked into her cute little face and asked very (not) seriously. "Now: do you think you're old enough to drink, or should I get you a juice instead?" He was teasing of course. He'd let her drink as long as she asked nicely.

"Hello!" Her hands went up to make sure the pins were holding the braid looped around her head. It had seemed practical to put her hair up, but if it looked good as well...

But! This was more important. "Uh, thank you. Well, it doesn't seem very full, but at least I can pick a good seat then?"

His question prompted a moment of musing. "You know, I'm not entirely sure. I don't feel very old, but... I don't even remember what my favourite foods are! I just found out I don't like apples today, so if you have something not-apple..." She gave him a look perhaps too serious for the question. "Maybe it's better I figure that out some other time, because I did say I'd help, and if I haven't drunk before I could end up doing something silly or embarrassing or otherwise not conducive to you making a profit tonight.

"Just to be on the safe side, hmm?" She tilted her head. "So, what can I do?"

Smoke kissed the fingers of his left hand and patted her on the head. "I understand. We'll get you some not-apple juice later, then."

Then his eyes went wide as he got an idea, lightly pounding one fist into another. "Actually, I do know something - I completely forgot to raid housekeeping for cleaning supplies. You know, brooms and dustpans and rags and stuff. Maybe you can go ask to borrow that stuff?"
