Eyepatch stepped out of his and Zombie's house, glancing down and pulling his jacket open. He hadn't even reached his cigarette pack nor had the door fully closed behind him when--poof!--a heavy suit appeared on him. It prevented him from grabbing his cigarettes, yet was just snug enough so he couldn't pull his arm from the sleeve either ( ... )

He grabbed a back, making sure to have his guns, his special box, and a part of their collection of guns and bullets. He could smell the fire was large, and it was almost like a sixth sense sort of feeling.
Dog was wearing some weird suit, just like Eyepatch was. He looked down, and now he noticed some weird suit was on him. "I have our stuff; we need to find a place to take cover." He knew he could survive the fire with his healing ability, but he knew Eyepatch and Dog probably couldn't.

Through his narrow line of view, he made out another figure. It was only the pale contrast that he knew who it was, and Eyepatch fell still. He had no idea what the suit was exactly, but it's weight felt more like a restraining device than something to wear. He strained to hear what Zombie was saying and only managed to make out, 'find a place to take cover'.
"Easy for you to say!" he shouted, with no clue whether or not Zombie could hear him. Biting down on his tongue, he lifted one foot and slowly stepped forward. Although that proved more effective than trying to run, it took far more energy and time than taking a step should have.
"Fuck this," he muttered, managing to lift his arms and grasp the large head piece. He tugged and tugged, but the effort proved futile. "Help me get this piece of shit off!" At this rate, he felt he wouldn't make it across the pathway.

"We are going." He spoke slowly, trying to make it so Eyepatch could hear him better.
Dog was very obedient, following Zombie willingly she rubbed against Eyepatch's leg as if she was telling him to listen to Zombie.
He grabbed onto Eyepatch's suit and began dragging him. Somehow this all felt rather familiar. "We need to find somewhere safe, and stop messing with the suit; we don't have time for this." He knew the fire was getting bigger and more spread out. It was only a matter of time before section one would full collapse in fire (if this continued, that is).
Out of nowhere, their place got set on fire. Zombie cursed, gritting his teeth. He started moving again, tugging at Eyepatch to follow. "Move!"

One sound rose above the endless wails of death and horror and the roar of the inferno, creaking and cracking, groaning with strain; he turned his head to the source and watched as a large section of tree tipped downward like a strained fishing rod, rapidly splintering and splitting at the place where it met the main trunk.
Directly below it someone stood in a bizarre golden suit, caught between movement and confusion.
Protect the weak.
His body obeyed the order his mind had given before he had the chance to think about it--or about why that person had dressed the way they did--feet pounding against the slowly-smoldering wood as he ran; he moved with catlike skill and speed, leaping across gaps and vaulting easily over stretches of madly flaring flame.
The path cut off at the last moment save for a thin branch half the width of his foot; he tore across it without noticing and bulled into the suited stranger, knocking them out of the way, his voice raising above the quiet monotone for the first time since his arrival.
"MOVE!"

Then something came between her and Nobody. Something large, leafy, and on fire. A tree branch had fallen from above, landing just where Fred had been moments ago. And right where Nobody had been standing. Fred stood there staring for a moment, shocked by the suddenness of it all--and then she suddenly moved toward the branch. Her indecisiveness had nearly gotten her killed; she was not about to let Nobody die because of her stupidity.
If he was still alive, she was going to save him.

Justice had just emerged from his room when it happened; one of Kazahana's medical files in his hand and wearing his usual weekend attire of a pair of rather worn jeans and a plain white shirt. For once, he was wearing shoes, for which he would be grateful later - although he did not know it at the time.
When things changed, it happened in the blink of an eye. The gold suit was like a sudden weight on his body and the abrupt damping of his senses triggered a jolt of adrenalin and an irrational fear that somehow, he had been thrust inside a memory without his knowledge. It was only when his vision cleared, and groping hands reached up and made contact with the helmet that he fully understood what had happened. But he still did not know whyIt was an effort to cross the living area, the weight of the suit and the heavy metal foot plates making movement difficult. It was hot inside - his sight dimmed to almost nothing by the orange-tinted glass that passed for a window. The scent of warming metal and his own ( ... )

He stepped out of his room, his movements halted by the eight of the suit, and every step harder than the last. There was a file on the floor, and he could only hear his own breathing in his ears as he watched it curl up on itself. Another step, and then another until he passed Justice's empty room. Where was he? It was then that he realized something, and the panic stung through him. Justice. Where was he? He finally took another few steps and came to the door, the thermostat indicating a temperature it couldn't register ( ... )

His eyes could make out no detail of a face, the other's visor as restricted in shape and size as his own; the thick tinted glass reflecting the fire around them and shadowing the occupant.
Phoenix. The voice was faint against the sound of the blaze, but he recognised it - exaggerating the nod of his head inside the helmet in the hope that the ungainly item followed suit. Then he gestured into the blaze ahead of him, where it increased in intensity the closer it grew to the oversized trunk ( ... )

When the fire broke out, he was so surprised he dropped his cigarette from his mouth, staring and blinking in case that would make the horrifying sight go away. It was only when flames shot across the floor to lick his feet that he cursed and jumped up. Maybe this was an early trip to the big downstairs, but he was still alive, and he wouldn't go easily.
He slammed his way through the door, not wanting to touch the metal knob. That was a safety tip, wasn't it? Why did he know that? It wasn't much better outside. Fire was everywhere, all around them, and everyone he could see looked terrified. One man just stood there, staring up at the burning leaves, completely ignoring the chunk of burning debris that was about to land on him ( ... )

Damn, God, he thought to himself. I know we do a lot of terrible things, but all these people?
It seemed like everything was ablaze, no matter where he went, but all he could think of was making it to the elevator. There had to be somewhere safe, didn't there ( ... )

"It's me, Chapel!" Geranium waved a hand as he ran to Chapel's side. At least his friend seemed to recognize his voice. "We've got to get out of here--gotta get to safety somewhere. Maybe--" He tugged at the helmet, but it wasn't coming loose.
