Tuesday is the birthday of one of my godsons. He's at the shelter but home for weekends, so we decided to celebrate today. We had a little get-together at my place - he came with his sister and niece. It's been an intense week. After being shut up in my house with my computer for almost two weeks straight (reminding me how very tired I am of grad school) I've been back at the shelters more regularly this week. A lot of it has been heartbreaking, actually, and I'm not sure where to begin.
