"Ooh, givin' speeches? Ain't that cute. What's next, runnin' for office?" Sawyer called with his typical, annoying mix of cheerful sarcasm, taking a bite from the apple he was eating and completing the image of complete disinterest. He wasn't here for any sort of meeting; his shop just happened to look out over the square, and he'd wandered out to see what all the shouting was about. Sort of habit from the island where Jack or Locke did this about every other day.

One thing was for sure, he was not joining some army to defend what was really nothing more than a fancy prison; he wasn't stupid and in his mind that was just a good way to get killed. Still, heckling was always fun which was why he was here.

Sylvanas had expected hecklers. That didn't change her reaction. She shot him a blood-red glare -- not the least because he had called her actions cute. But she ignored his question. "Actually, I have a question for you. You run some kind of store, correct? What sort of things do you 'sell?'"

Sawyer met the glare with a smirk and took another bite of his apple. "Well now sister, I ain't just gonna go givin' out a list of all I got. Good way to attract thieves. You list what you want and what you're willin' to trade for it and if I got it I say so. That's the way it works 'round here."

"I see. Nothing specific, for now." Putting aside the appearance of anger, she eyed him up and down. An attractive enough human, as far as she could tell. Cocky. Canny. If the Warden talked to him sometimes, he must be smart, although difficult. "But I'll definitely keep you in mind," she purred, cruel sarcasm saturating every syllable.

Seemingly out of nowhere, a girl looking no older than fifteen stepped forward. Her dress, and the light blue trim attached to the back of it, flowed like water behind her as she approached, the blue sign of Mercury shining on her forehead. "I heard your speech," she said, "It was quite impassioned. I also agree with you." She paused, looking at the ground. "The water feels troubled," she continued, "And I have a feeling something will happen, soon.

Sylvanas turned her attention on the girl, relieved to get turn her attention away from Sawyer's mockery. This one looked uncannily like Mercury -- the one who thought she was the smartest person in the world. So perhaps a double? She had none of her counterpart's irritating superiority.

The dark lady weighed the water-girl's words, making a mental note to ask her name later. "I believe you. I just hope this isn't too late."

The fear had already been inside her, that she had acted too late. It turned and somewhere near her stomach for a moment before she dismissed it. There might still be enough time.

"However," Mercury continued with a light frown, "I must admit, despite your noble intentions, it shall not work for one reason: arrivals and disappearances." She folded her arms in front of her. "People arrive and depart here unexpectedly. Organizing too far ahead of time, while smart in theory, crumbles here. Once something happens, the moment it happens, you must gather those you know to be reliable and act from there. It is unfortunate, yes, but it is better to do that than rely on people who may not be here when the time arrives."

Sylvanas' patience began to slip. Her words were soft, and meticulously enunciated. "Certainly there is more than one person here capable of leading here. If someone in a critical position disappears, another can step into their place. As for gathering the reliable...Wouldn't it make more sense to have some kind of designation so that you can call upon those outside your circle of friends, who may know more?"

I was a ruler, she reflected privately, but I was used to people being more...cooperative.

Jacket notwithstanding, Leon didn't mind the heat either. He'd given the venue one last clean sweep before he'd let Sylvanas take centerstage. The fact they stood at the heart of the giant Y that was Neocontra meant she would be hard to miss, thus it was a push of encouragement for those who might wish to respond. On the downside it also meant there were multiple angles for him to worry about security-wise. Not even he could cover them all.

In that light, he'd seen to fit drum up some deputies. He'd convinced 'Squid' to cover the Office and 'Jackdaw' to handle the Bank. Still not the ideal setup he would've wanted, but it was the best he could gather on short notice.

Anyone looking at Sylvanas from the front would see Leon in profile, a silent sentinel with arms crossed and head bowed. Not so close that he obstructed anyone's view of her, but not so far that he couldn't cover her if the time called for it. His eyes continued to rove their surroundings, settling for a moment on those who'd physically shown up.

Luther had honestly begun to freak out (but just a little, he insisted!) when he learned that he really wasn't in the Eternal Sphere anymore. Because that simply meant that he wasn't in control, and he didn't like not having control. Also, that made him quite powerless; Econtra was a world deprived of technology, and well, he was deprived of his administrator powers. He was himself here - a programmer, a CEO. Not an insanely powerful character with an arsenal of killer moves and mad swordfighting skills.

Although he was very intelligent. Just... lacking the resources at the moment.

He decided to take a walk around the compound, but made sure to keep a low profile. He didn't want to attract unwanted attention here; he was sure as hell he couldn't defend himself if there were people who wanted to kill him. And, well, he was curious about the message that had come through the communicators; it had been, he was sure, a call to arms.

Well, if he was bored enough, he just might lend a hand, assuming they gave him the technology to work

Just because she had asked Leon to watch her back didn't mean she wasn't watching her own. She marked the blonde man lingering in the background when she glanced over her shoulder.

"You, in the back." She beckoned with one hand: her right, the one with the cuff. "Come closer."

(ooc: Posting order: Leon, Luther, Sylvanas?)

Sylvanas called upon the the blond man. Leon silently moved to let him come close enough to air his thoughts, keeping an eye on him as he did so. He could observe this exchange for the moment; not too many had shown up so far, thus Squid and Jackdaw could cover for him.

OOC: Luther->Sylvanas actually, since Leon will just watch and listen unless something happens.
