Sylvanas stood in the town square with the noon sun beating down on her, looking up briefly to the empty sky. No birds or insects. Just this cluster of humanoid life, which she couldn't feel the way she used to. No matter. She heard Leon approach well enough. She did not smile, but brought her gaze down to meet his briefly, in greeting, in acknowledgment. Her eyes burned a more intense red with purpose.

The dark ranger took a breath, lifted the messenger to her lips, and began.

"Citizens of Neocontra." Her voice had a subtle metallic note in it, like the soft scrape of a blade being unsheathed. "For those who do not know yet, my name is Sylvanas Windrunner. I have been military commander for most of my life. I was Lieutenant General and then Ranger-General of Silvermoon. When that city fell, I was...forced to work for my enemy. I became one of their best commanders, for my will was not my own. When their master's powers waned, I was myself again, and I led a rebellion of other free-minded people. We built a realm for ourselves and they called me their queen. Before I came here I had yet to be defeated in that position. So when I say to you that we are acting like a motley group of civilians, you will understand my full meaning."

She met the gazes of the people looking at her curiously. Good. She had their attention.

"Not everyone here is suited for war. I understand that. I know that we are probably not meant to be soldiers at all, but some kind of...food source.” She pronounced the words with disdain. “However, we have been been attacked once. I do not doubt it will happen again. We must be prepared for that day -- warrior or not. Let me put it this way: we have been summoned to this prison against our wills - so, we must survive in order to go back. To that end, everyone has a purpose. We need artisans and inventors, tailors and farmers, fighters and healers. I know that we can make this place our home for as long as we are in it. Do you not wish to protect your homes -- both of them?"

Her voice, steadily rising in volume, reached the peak of its crescendo:

"Listen to me! We can become a force to be reckoned with if we organize! Some will disagree with me. Let them come to the fountain, and we can talk. Some will not listen. Some will try to thwart our efforts. They will be a hindrance to us -- let them be outcasts! I will not let a few pranks dissuade me from my task." She paused, a new thought striking her. "No, it is my obligation to you all. Who is with me?"

Finished, she adjusted the volume on her communicator so that any voice replies could be heard by people around her, and set down the device on the rim of the fountain. Let them come. She had time.
