Unlike the Doctor, Persephone was not enjoying the weather. Too many things were getting ready to sleep and the weather was actually putting her more into a brooding than the carefree days of summer did. And for the goddess, there were certainly a lot of things to think about -- her future, her husband, Batman, the sudden appearance of unsavory villains, others going insane -- so many things she thought her head would burst from trying to contain it all.

That was why she was off to see the Doctor today. In some strange, roundabout way all of the thinking had reminded her that the strange man existed and it was armed with a now cold cup of tea (she had tried valiantly to keep it warm, but, sadly, they didn't make sweaters small enough for teacups) and her staff that Persephone made her way to the church to visit her friend.

Poking her head out onto the roof after throughly inspecting the church's interior for any sign of the Doctor, Persephone called out, "Hello? Are you about anywhere, Doctor?"

Coat fluttering in the cooling afternoon breeze, the Doctor did not turn to face Persephone, looking out over the compound with dark, pensive eyes. He lifted a hand in greeting, which, he hoped, was recognition enough. He had things on his mind as well, the most recent of which was the hole he'd planted his foot in through the rotting wood of the church's roof. Rather stuck, it seemed. Wriggling his shoe to and fro, the Doctor attempted not to fall off the roof and tried to reclaim his foot.

"'Allo," he muttered after a moment, throwing out both arms for balance. He did not look up, staring at his foot and the ground, alternatively. "That you, Persephone? Watch your step, the roof's gone a bit off..."

It was all Persephone could do not to laugh. Setting the teacup down inside the doorway of the church, the goddess carefully picked her way across the roof, clinging to her staff. Now might have been a good time for the girl to start wearing shoes, having gone barefoot through the compound the entire time since she had been here.

"Need some help?" As much as she was trying not to laugh, Persephone couldn't keep the amusement out of her voice, moving to offer the staff in an attempt to pry the Doctor's foot free of the roof.

The Doctor reached out towards Persephone, taking the staff and wrapping his bony fingers firmly around it. Using that for a bit of balance, he yanked his foot out and, with a grimace, pulled it out of the roof, managing to extricate it without making the hole bigger. A brief look of mad panic crossed his features as he lost his balance, but by some super-human feat of agility, managed to dance back up the roof on light feet.

Carefully moving away from the hole once he regained his footing, the Doctor gathered his coat around him and moved back up towards the steeple door and the church entrance. Relief worked its way into his brow and then down into his eyes, and he exhaled a bit unsteadily.

"Oi, now, I was trying not to punch all the way through... And yeah, I did, thanks." The Doctor took a seat on the spine of the roof, Converses swaying back and forth. "Don't imagine you're enjoying the turn to fall." An apologetic smile. "Have to say, it's my favourite time of year, right now. Then again, that might say something about me."

Oddly, Espio came across the Doctor completely by accident. Lately, climbing damn near every single building in Econtra had become something of a hobby - something he did pretty much daily. To find the Doctor pacing up and down the roof of a church was something of a surprise.

"...hi."

From the look on his face, it would be easy to deduce he hadn't come up here looking for him.

"'Allo, Espio," murmured the Doctor, taking a seat on the spine of the roof, turning his attention towards the chameleon for a long moment. His own expression was largely unreadable, as the Doctor's tended to be nearly all of the time. He wrapped his brown coat around him, propping his weight back on his hands. "Doing all right?"

The Doctor didn't seem remotely phased by Espio's appearance, though inwardly, he wasn't quite sure if he should have been. Come to think of it, it'd been awhile since he'd last seen the lizard, and that last while had been when he wasn't quite stable. Not that he was stable now, either, but he was more in control of himself, if anything.

"Fairly, yeah," Espio answered, though he didn't sit down. Not yet, anyway. "You?" He didn't think it was a particularly good idea to bring up their last face-to-face meeting... at least not without testing the waters first, because throughout the whole ordeal it had taken every ounce of his being to resist hitting the Doctor over the head and screaming at him to stop being an idiot.

But he grinned anyway. "Long time."

"Yeah, bit. ... Doing alright. Remember that girl I told you about? Rose? She's here... you probably already know, but it's... good that she's here. It's... very good, I ah, I missed her, you know, traveled with her for years seems like, although it really was only two..."

The Doctor tilted his head back, exposing his long, white neck to the dying embers of the sun. He didn't say anything after that, keeping silent.
