"Sir Kane."

Sheifa arrived at the park, smiling. She'd been bored herself and had decided to go out and check out the sights, even if it was in the middle of the day. And she was in luck; there was someone whose company she didn't mind, and who probably wouldn't mind hers, either.

He'd halted upon crossing the Park bridge, more to get his bearings than to catch his breath from the past hours of wandering. The same gust of wind that sent his cape billowing out around him as he leaned on his staff carried a familiar scent of perfume downwind. The wanderer turned, and the ghost of a smile touched his lips at seeing the flame haired lass from Cathay.

"Lady Sheifa.", he welcomed with a grave bow as she drew nearer. "It hath been weeks. I trust this city hath not gotten the better of ye just yet." His face was grave as always, but there was a hint of light-heartedness in those blue eyes.

"I was a ditzy blonde princess the other week, and then I turned 30 last week. But yeah, I'm okay." Sheifa walked beside him, smiling. She liked the man. He was kinda like a father figure to her. Sort of. "How have you been? You've been awfully quiet," she noted.

The right side of Kane's visage curled into a quasi-smile. He didn't exactly know what 'ditzy' meant, but it did sound unflattering. 'Blond princess' was spot on however. He'd only realized the week after the transformations that Sheifa WAS said princess. And had been in a playful mood when she'd summoned him, as the Scottish knight from the future, to come to her aid.

That same near-smile briefly focused on Sheifa. It was the only indication he gave that he was, in the vernacular, on to her. And he didn't mind.

"That I have." he finally admitted, matching his serious pace to her light step as the morning heat heightened the scents of the Park. "I myself know not why. Though...looking back, I'd say I was mourning a friend's loss."

Lunch time ish. egyptianmage July 28 2008, 15:31:19 UTC
Mahaado needed the open air. His lonesome discovery of the fridge had unforunantly startled the living hell out of him. The sudden gust of cold air had him shutting the door hurriedly and escaping the kitchen. What kind of abomination was that thing?

... Maybe he could find someone to help him? At least so far as to know what was a threat and what was a modern convience. Either way, until he regathered his nerves...

He was going to just hover in the air and read his spellbook.

((OOC: Feel free to poke.))

The hour of the midday meal drew near, and a chagrined Kane found himself striding back towards his apartment. What manner of traveller meant to dine outdoors when he hadn't even brought the most basic of rations with him?

It irked him how he could remember a lifetime's worth of fencing maneuvers but not something that would keep his strength up.

He was just yards from his apartment building when a door flew open with quite a bang. A hand flew to one of his pistols but he relaxed when he saw it was a young man in a very mild state of shock. Blue eyes shifted in concern.

"Hullo." he called out. "Is something the matter?"

Mahaado stopped and looked about before realizing he had been caught off guard. Which unto itself was bad enough, but to be caught because of something as silly as ignorance... Well..

"Greetings... Ahh no. I had a bit of a surprise, but I am well." he replied cautiously moving away from the door.

Kane's left eyebrow raised ever so slightly. The look on the young man's face...he'd seen it before. On himself. It was a strange thing to remember, but he suddenly found himself thinking of his own first reactions to technology above that of his native time.

"S'truth?" he asked gently while trying to glance over the young man's shoulder, almost expecting some wild animal to come bursting out the doorway in hot pursuit.

OOC: John Williams needs to redo the Jaws theme for Ton. XD Oh, I'm readying a suprise for you. Hope ya like it even if it's not much; it's to do with your choice of icon in future posts. ;D

The barest step out of his apartment made Kane realize this July day was going to be as muggy as the rest. He affirmed this by removing his hat and brusquely fanning himself with it. But he made no move to put it back; it dangled loosely at his side and between his fingers as he paced along. It was certainly unusual to see this vagabond without his hat.

And suddenly, without so much as slowing down, he threw a casual glance over his shoulder. The proverbial 'the walls have eyes' sensation had made him feel cold just now.

The hat was lazily swaying back and forth in time to his stride. Working with Ton's momentum was the fact that the wanderer had suddenly stopped to growl at something in his path, in front of the Office building. Whatever it was, his caped back was obscuring it.

A second later he stepped around whatever it was and made a right before reaching the Plaza. The very rapidly closing Ton would see a classic trash dumpster filling his vision. Carelessly left there by the masked man named Rorschach, who often used it to sneak into his hideout on the Office's ground floor.

The monk, as usual, was about the park, which is when he encountered a familiar aura he hadn't seen for some time. The monk arose from praying and turned, the gems on his staff clinking as he moved, to greet a familiar friend.

"Greetings, Solomon Kane," the monk said with a bow.

Kane had not wanted to interrupt him in his prayers, but the good monk had been the one to greet him of his own accord. "Brother Mhenlo. Bless ye.", he returned with a genial tip of the hat. He'd been wondering when their paths would cross again, and it was reassuring to know the warrior hadn't lost himself to this city.

"'Tis good to see ye again, sir. The last fortnight had me fearing for the worst. How have ye been?"

"Likewise," the monk replied. "I have found myself in various cumbersome forms, but that aside, rather well. This is the most peaceful place to pray, the one place which feels somewhat like home." He looked out over the water. Hopefully soon this place would have more green to accompany it.

"How have you been?"

"Grateful." came the Puritan's ready answer. The feeling that Mhenlo's no-nonsense attitude meant he could talk to him about anything came rushing back to him, as it first had a month ago. "T'was a miracle that the last two weeks' shenanigans saw me untouched. These city-wide misadventures tend to start as accidents." A tightening of the lines around his blue eyes. "Some days I am sorely tempted to air an advisory for all to simply mind themselves. T'would save us so much trouble, I assure ye."

His fingers tapped against his staff. "I had heard of thy venture to school all those interested in the healing arts. That is very noble of ye, Brother."

Just before dinner, near the cafe flameofthecraft July 28 2008, 18:53:43 UTC
Robin strolled the street quietly, glancing about as she did. Word of different attacks had not gone unnoticed by the hunter-turned-witch, so she knew to be cautious, especially as it began to get dark. Apparently, the seedier elements of Econtra came out in the dark ( ... )

There was a girl there. A mere child who, hoping to escape your lust, fled up the valley. But you, you jackal of Hell... you caught her and left her, violated and dying. I found her there and above her dead form I made up my mind to hunt you down and kill you.Kane's grimace melted when the first cool breeze of the evening swept through Neocontra. It drove away not just the summer heat, but the cloud of blood-drenched memories upon his mind. A good thing too, for night had fallen. He would do well to keep his wits about him lest he found his blood seeping into a nosferatu's drinking jack ( ... )

She was curious about his style of speech. It was one she was unfamiliar with. Having been raised in Italy, her grasp of languages other than Italian was sometimes lacking in certain areas of conversation. She nodded slightly though, understanding mostly what he had stated.

"It has been warm," she said. "Hopefully for not much longer." After all, with the summer reaching it's midpoint, it would only get cooler from then on out. "Is this weather warmer than what you're used to?"

OOC: *takes valium* Very nervous atm. X3

"Not so. Neocontra hath yet to rival African summers. They can scorch more than those of my native England and this mad city combined." The girl's manner struck him as modest and reserved without being unfriendly. It was a welcome change from the types of women he'd had to get used to here. And quite the contrast to the Puritan's stony disposition.

That was when the scent of broiling meat, someone else's meal, came wafting in from the Cafe. "Supper is nigh. Might I offer a young lady company in the face of these darkening shadows?" An invitation completely absent of malice and suggestiveness, yet showed grudging awareness of what befell the lone and unlucky in Neocontra.
