Summary: True to his vagrant nature, Kane wanders the city. He's done this for weeks now but today may yet hold surprises.

He'd awakened with a violent start from dream-memories of North Africa. Of his capture at the hands of Arab slave traders and their discovery of the shambling red Horror in the jungle. And his defeat of the ancient abomination with the equally ancient staff that had been wielded by kings past, right down to his own Biblical namesake.
That day had been a true eye opener for the Puritan, if a deeply disturbing one. That all the dreams and squabbles and accomplishments of mankind were but motes of dust in the face of what came Before (in the Horror's case, what Remained). When Kane had taken it upon himself to travel the world and light the darkness he had never expected to graduate from human depravity to face such soul-crushing evils as these.
Kane frowned at the mists of the past. Here now in Neocontra, he was glad for that day and those that had followed. It made living with the very thought that the Entropi were real that much easier. To say nothing of his being a prisoner in this mad city.
Gloves, hat, and cape were donned before the rangy Englishman took up his arms and shut the door to Vri-Eksi behind him. Seconds later he was out on the street and weaving a circuitous path away from his apartment building. By now he knew this place by heart, but the same couldn't be said about the other residents.
