Getting a bad haircut, or one you didn't want is really emotional - you go ahead and complain. I guess its just that hair is so personal. Even if all they do is take a few extra inches off it can feel really awful - and if the whole thing is wrong or different than you wanted it feels icky. Almost violating, because it screws with the image you have of yourself. I totally get it. I hope it grows on you in a few days - if not can the other stylist improve it?

thanks. i don't feel quite so much like a big baby now. unfortunately, the original stylist is in Arizona...which is why i didn't just go to her again in the first place. and it's too short to improve right now. i'm thinking i'll be less disappointed in it once it grows out a little. and at that point, it should also be long enough to get fixed if need be.

I'm the reigning queen of the bad haircuts. The stories I could tell you...and the photographs I could show you. My friends and family have actually had interventions. I've been known to take the scissors to my own hair...and Yoda and Spawn...not good. A while back it was my misfortune to run across a particularly aggressive "stylist"...I literally looked like a rodent had gnawed hunks off my head and it was short, really SHORT in certain areas. That one even shocked Yoda, who thought he had seen it all...when he walked in the door from work, before he could stop himself he said..."Oh hell no, tell me you didn't actually go to a barber." I made him take me to dinner and be seen in public with me for that outburst. It was priceless. Hair grows...if it's too bad you can always shave your head and start anew.

Yep, you are totally justified.
I *never* have a satisfactory haircut from a hairdressers. As soon as I get home, i wash the style out and hope that when everyone says it looks ok, they are not just being nice!

Im prolly fortunate that after a few days, the style "grows out" into something that im happy with.

Im more fortunate that nowadays, Lol Gives my head the clippers treatment. its neat, spiky, and low maintainance!butAt the moment, im just letting it grow as long as i can get it.
I digress... DOnt feel silly because you are upset with your style, like the other replies say - it *is* personal. Im hoping that in a few days, you will feel comfortable with it and, if it helps, It will always grow out!

ps... nice one wiht the books!

thanks. and it's not that i look bad...just really generic. and i still have hope once it's given a week or two to grow.

spiky is good. that's part of what i miss with this cut. the spikies just aren't working.

I hate the haircut cha-cha that ensues when you can't go back to the person that first gave you the kick ass haircut.

I finally found someone that does good things to my head for color and someone else that can do the cutting. The only way I'm going to someone new now is if one of those two dies.

Cathy is my "regular" person here, she just didn't do the original short cut. it probably would have been fine if she'd done the short cut originally. but i got it done while i was back in AZ. loyalty visit to the stylist i went to in high school and college. of coure, she is also someone i trust to do whatever to my hair 'cuz she knows me well enough to know what i will and won't like. but this time round has given me some good "don'ts" that i can use in description next time.

i think my sister uses the two person method as well. and when i move i'm gonna have to go through the whole finding a stylist mess again. bleh.
