Here's some contemplation on one of my favourite pairings ever (next to, you know, Harry/Draco), because I'm bored at work, and instead of finishing the fic I need to get done, I'm blaring music on my ipod and letting my mind wander. I'm an excellent employee. Am home now and just posting what I typed at work. Because that's what I do.

Since I have never seen Torchwood, I did not read that epic manifesto. But you are an excellent employee. And those nachos are delicious. :)

I think you've made some excellent arguments here. Ianto is indeed very loyal, and that's a strong point in favor of him not sleeping with anyone else while taking care of Lisa. You've also provided a very plausible reason for Jack's overreaction during "Cyberwoman," which is one of the bigger speed bumps in the "they weren't doing it" theory.

That's one of the things I really enjoy about watching the relationship, that we don't really know for sure. I think there's strong, persuasive evidence to support both theories, and that really, in the end, if canon nails it down either way we won't necessarily be the poorer for the information. But like I said, you've made some really good arguments, backed up by what we know about the characters.

Full Disclosure: If I were forced to choose, I'd say that they were sleeping together before "Cyberwoman," (51% yes they were/49% no they weren't) but I also wouldn't be in the least bit surprised--for the very good reasons you've noted above--to find out that they weren't. I do have a ( ... )

Bought the 1st season dvds a few weeks ago and in the second episode, Gwen is asking everyone (and asay something but stop himself ( maybe before spilling about his office romance)

Jeez, my sentence makes no sense *___*. You had to read of course :

Bought the 1st season dvds a few weeks ago and in the second episode, Gwen is asking everyone (with an annoying smugly tone) if they are seeing someone. Jack turns around and is about to say something, but stop himself (maybe before spilling his gut about how kinky is the office romance he's having just under their nose)

My theory is that they didn't sleep together before Cyberwoman, but that it wasn't for lack of trying on Jack's part. From Ianto's POV, I think he may have been trying to strike a careful balance. Putting himself out just enough to hold Jack's interest, but not letting Jack go all the way. Why? Because I think that for Jack, or at least for Ianto's impression of Jack/knowledge of his reputation, the chase is the important thing. I think that Ianto might easily have believed that once Jack had gotten into Ianto's pants that he might have lost interest, and Ianto wouldn't be as easily able to distract/manipulate him. I think that Ianto would have seen sex as a last resort, not just because it would be a betrayal of Lisa, but also because it might not work.

I'm thinking I may have come off a bit wrong... I believe that they didn't sleep together before Cyberwoman, but as you said, that's not for lack of trying on Jack's part.

See, to me the catching-Myfanwy rolling-on-the-ground scene was a clear, blunt "no" from Ianto. Something could've happened right then, but Ianto freaked out, said "I should go" - which is code for "This shouldn't happen" - and left without another word. I still think Jack would be incredibly interested, if not moreso, but if Ianto's still not 100% behind it, Jack's not going to rape him, as that's what it essentially would be. And, as you said, the longer Ianto holds out the more interested Jack would become.
