A few conversational exchanges in recent weeks have stuck with me, so I thought I'd share.

From the Death Tea party:
Mark: What kinds of tea do you have?

Me: The English Breakfast and Russian Caravan are ready, and the Jasmine and Earl Grey are brewing.

Mark: Awesome!

Me: I'll brew up some Assam in the next batch, if you like...

Hmmm the SoM song is actually just 'Black Planet' They drove around in the Monkeemobile for the video.

(Sorry.... I should note, Wayne Hussey - the lead guitarist of SoM at the time of that song, was and still is a friend of mine.

Wayne called it quits with his own band (The Mission) after 22 years, in early 2008. 4 concerts in London (they were a lot of fun). There's a DVD set. I'm on the 3rd DVD... one of a half dozen fan interviews. /shrug/ 15 minutes of goth fame....

There actually is a song called "Black Flag"--it's a kanef of an Annwn song called "The Red Queen."

(The original is about Anne Bonny. The Kanef version is about cockroaches, of course.)

I love "The Red Queen"! I will have to obtain that Kanef album...

The album is "Roundworm," Kanef's only CD release. Check out the page for more.

(Of course, as always, Kanef himself doesn't sing. But man, the people he lines up...for example, he got Annwn to perform "Black Flag" themselves.)
