Those are large barnacles.

It sounds like you have made a new friend. It's nice to become friends with someone with things in common.

Enjoy your events!

Glad to hear you're enjoying your book club and developing new friendships. We watched a documentary about a West Coast college sculling team going to a major competition (maybe Olympics, maybe national competition) and winning out over all the Ivy League/traditional winners. It was an interesting program. That isn't the subject of "The Boys in the Boat", is it?

You certainly have a great-sounding schedule of activities on your calendar! I hope you have lots of fun!

That is it! That's the PBS documentary that we watched. It was riveting, despite the fact that I started out not wanting to watch it.

Hmmm, I'll be quite satisfied with photos, thank you. No need for me to be at all "close" to real, live gators, thank you VERY MUCH indeed. ;-}

Great! I'm so glad you loved it! The book is wonderful, too! I want to watch the documentary now! So was it named "The Boys of "36?" and on PBS?

I kind of started out not wanting to read the book, too. But since it was our recommended book to read, I reluctantly started reading it and it didn't take long for me to begin to love it.

Gators are pretty common down here, but mostly in the wild and the wetlands. I have much respect for them and am cautious for sure.
