I think I’ll do a 10 and try to get caught up . . .

1. Pete reinforced the old green bench the other day and then painted it the new backyard blue. It really looks nice surrounded by so much greenery. Three big things have been painted blue out there and the gallon of paint is now gone ( Read more... )

My 12 year old washer decided to have issues yesterday too. We have a part on order, it should be here tomorrow and should do the trick. I hope so because hell if I have money for a new one at the moment.

Yours could be an easy fix and I hope it is. As soon as we took ours to the curb, one of our neighbors came and got them. He thought he would try and repair them and give to a family he knew that didn't have a washer or dryer. I hope it works out that way.

Thanks for the update. Always nice hearing from you. I'm glad Pete said no when asked to work once again. It's such a pleasure to have that option, isn't it.

I read 11/22/63. That was my sixth birthday. I'm not a real big fan of King, but I love time travel themes. I enjoyed this one very much and many people told me it was out of the norm for Stephen King.

Ahhh, somehow I'm not surprised that you are a Scorpio, too.

You too, huh. what date?

I realized I wrote sixth birthday but it was my 10th. I had a big party planned, which all went sideways.
Let us know what you think of the book, being a big King fan yourself.

November 2. (my dad, my youngest daughter, my niece, my nephew, my mother-in law, and a bunch of friends....all Scorpio)

Yes, I'll let you know what I think of the book. One of those dates and times where you'll never forget where you were or what you were doing. I was sitting around a table in our dorm room with college roommates when the news came over our little radio.

Great to have an update from you!

It IS hard to believe that Maria is 18 already. That time went so fast.

You and Pete are finding plenty to do. I'm glad you and Pete turned down those offers and will not stress yourselves out.

My, your weather really is hot. It's hard to sleep at night when it's that hot.

I think a little swing on a wire tree would look so good. You come up with the most creative ideas!

Bad luck on the washer and dryer and also the a/c. So expensive! I'm glad that your neighbour has taken them to try and repair them for a family that doesn't have either.

Thanks, Beth. I feel somehow guilty I have not been on here more like I used to and have not had time to read my friends either. I guess right now it's just not meant to be.

I'm addicted to the AC. We turn it on, usually in April, set the temp to 77 and don't touch it again usually until December.

August is always the worst month. Last year we were lucky it was over cast and raining all summer. It really saved us. It's very hot. I'm so glad we have our little window unit as we can't afford to fix out AC. Good for you to say no on those jobs. I sometimes miss breeding birds, but time to start a new chapter in my life. It is nice to know we made a small impact on society.

Yes, it's hard to say goodbye and let go of things that have been such a huge part of your life, the main part of your life for so many years. I like what you say..."start a new chapter in my life." Sometimes you just know when it is time to begin a new chapter....the last one has been read to death. The idea of making an impact on society or someone else's life, giving them joy or having sparked their mind in whatever way is very appealing to me, and a legacy I'm wanting to leave.

It's always kind of nice when you know you are on the downhill side of our summers and heading for more pleasant, cooler weather.

Seems like if 1 appliance goes something else will fail too.

Looking forward to your photos of the wire trees. Glad that you are enjoying doing them.

I love the lizard gazing at himself. He's wondering if that's a competitor or not.

Glad you have a/c, besides the heat it does help with humidity.

Yes, you are right about that. When we brought this house almost 15 years ago we got several new things and they are all about reaching their time now and starting to break down. Including our mattress. It is way overdue with a little shallow crater on each side. Not good for the back that's for sure.

I'm going to photograph them today. Yes, I love making them.

The humidity is the real problem, especially in the hot summertime. When we first moved here (40 years ago) we didn't have AC and got mildew on lots of stuff in the house and closets.
