Trimming the oak

Feb 11, 2013 22:19

Today Pete decided to trim one of the oak trees while most of the limbs were bare. We try and do this every winter so we can actually see the dead limbs and what needs trimming without all the leaves in the way. Grandson Zack came over and helped, which I was thankful for, because I don’t like being a tree trimming partner. Pete and I do not ( Read more... )

Had to smile at "a man and his fire" - I'm glad Pete gets enjoyment from his fire - he deserves it - it's a great fire pit.

That first one barely looks like your yard - all the decorations overshadowed by tree trimming debris.

That's nice that the moon it back - it always makes me feel better when the moon in in the sky at night for some reason.

Yes, when you see someone staring into the fire, I always wonder what they are thinking about. Or if they are just thinking about nothing and resting their minds.

I'll try and remember to take another picture when it all gets cleaned up and new leaves start coming in.

I know. I love to see the moon no matter what stage it is in.

Nice that Zack could help out with the chores...

Pete's back must be better ... seems like he had some problems a bit ago...

Nice job... I'm sure he was glad to get that job done.

Pete's Sciatica is healing up nicely so far. I was afraid he was doing too much with the tree trimming, but everything is good.

The gardens and yard are a big job to take care of, believe me! Sometimes I wish we didn't have so many things around here that need so much attention, but it IS satisfying when a job is done and we can sit back and enjoy it.

The fire pit is turning into one of the best things we've ever done around here.

Thanks on the moon. Sunday was the first night of the new moon phase, so when I caught it, it was already into the second night. I love when there is just enough light up there to show the ghost of the whole moon.

Nice job on the tree. It's always nice to have them trimmed ready for spring. You have the perfect job - make lunch and drinks - you make such yummy stuff, it's a prefect job description, and somebody has to do it! I see it's the tree with the big staghorn. That must be a bit of a pain having to take the orchids back down and then to have to oput them all back up again. Lucky your grandson could come over to help! What a lovely way to end the day with a fire, too.

My freind and I were wondering if it was new moon on Sunday, and it was! She was wondering if the moon would be on its side or on its back like you have. I'll have to go out and see!

Thanks on the tree. I think this is actually the best job yet on the tree trimming. Usually we never seem to take enough off, but this year I think it is perfect. We were very thankful for Zack's help! Yes, it is always my job to supply drinks and I'm happy to keep my job just as it is. hehe :))

The orchids are back up now. I do it so often and I have worked out a system where I can do it pretty quickly. The only problem is if one of the roots would happen to attach itself to the tree trunk, because that is what they do in the wild. This winter I found two that had done that during the summer and fall months and I had to pull them off and destroy part of the root. But it was either that or possibly lose them to the cold weather. Yes, that is the tree with the staghorn. There is a smaller more manageable one hanging on the opposite side, and I was able to take it down before all the work started.

Yes, I checked and the new moon was Sunday, so this was into the second night of the new moon.

I can't see the new moon at all now. It's cloudy, haha :)
