Not actually for the Ficathon, but it's Doctor Who (albeit with a dash of Torchwood) and it is very, very historical.

Yay! Very glad you enjoyed -- and Edward IV proved surprisingly slashable (or perhaps not so surprisingly when one thinks about it).

I suspect you're right. This is brilliant...! Thank you for writing it! My favourite period of history too!

Ahhh, this is fun! And I do like your Jack-voice, I really do!

I admit I had a bit of trouble following the actual historical stuff, but that's entirely my fault for being... well, whatever the OPPOSITE of a history buff is. :) The bits that I did follow, though, and the character stuff? Dead awesome.

Hee, Jack is rosamund's responsibility overall, and the historical stuff is mine, so obviously that needs some work. ;) I'm rather annoyed with LJ for not letting us put the notes in with the rest of the fic, but I don't know how helpful they would have been.

Oh, no worries, I read the notes too, and they were VERY helpful -- as well as quite amusing. :) I'm just saying, this fic assumes at least a passing knowledge of that time in Brit history, which is totally fair in a community like this, but which I REALLY don't have. I barely know my American history, let alone the Brit stuff.

That's a really good point. I am seriously considering adding a link to the Wikipedia entry on the Wars of the Roses now, because I often forget that not everyone eats, sleeps, and breathes the fifteenth century just because I do. Which says so many incredibly sad things about me...or possibly just speaks on the hazards of writing fic directly related to one's dissertation!

Hurrah! You've written it!

"It's the end of the world! There were three suns! Three!"

"I always said it wasn't a parhelion."10 *g*

"Medicus quondam, medicus futurus," Ned said under his breath. "Although I would have pegged him as Merlin first."

Jack smiled to himself, thinking that the Doctor could actually have been the famous wizard.

The parhelion was actually one of the first ideas we had for this story, mostly because it's just so weird and coincidental and too much fun not to tweak.

And I hadn't really thought about it before, but when rosamund wrote that line, I really had to wonder if there was a reality where the Doctor (in some incarnation) was Merlin.

Canonically, he apparently will be - see Battlefield. Though ISTR that was indeed in another universe.

Ah, nice! I will have to see that.

*giggle* This was fun! Also:

"Don't mind my friend," the Doctor put in smoothly, "he's from Cardiff."

That *so* could have come out of an episode. And I liked the idea of the Doctor as Merlin.

Yay! Glad you enjoyed! And, yes, the Doctor as Merlin makes incredibly scary sense!

YES IT DOES. Now I want this to be a fic too. Eep.

Apparently there's an Old Who episode that at least does something with the Doctor and Merlin called Battlefield, but I haven't seen it.

That being said, YES SOMEONE NEEDS TO WRITE THIS.

I loved this - read it all through in one big glorious dollop without pausing to note things because I was just enjoying the story so much.

You've got the pacing spot on here - it reminds me so much of the TV series it's eerie.

Yay! Very glad you enjoyed -- and the episodic feel was precisely what we were going for, so thank you!
