kungfu sketch--inked

Jul 12, 2005 16:27

I made the horse bigger and slightly shorter, and made his chin less. I'm kind of sad that the inked version looks less lively than the sketch, though. =( I guess that it happens because there are less lines flying about, but if I could figure out a way to keep the sense of movement without spontaneously splattering ink all over the place, then ( Read more... )

Inking errors, sminking errors...looks great to me. Maybe make a trace of it beforehand so you could transfer it and give it another shot later on if you royally mess it up. However, I doubt that you will, since all of your stuff comes out looking awesome no matter what you say about it ;)

:O Kyahh, but I'm lazy! And I already stuck masking fluid all over it. =__= Next time. T__T My sis told me to do little printouts and experiment w/ the watercolors before I actually do the real one.

When are you going to show art? I keep looking and waiting! >:O

I've been doing weirdo knitting stuff lately, and making boxes to hold my insect collection. I made some knitted rats and a knitted katamari pouch (modelled on the sticky balls in the game). Right now I'm grappling with making a stuffed pig for Sean. I'm planning on doing a painting of a beetle soon unless something cooler piques my interest. Perhaps I shall go out and try to take some flower pics to paint. This weekend I'll try to produce something. Pretty sad that I haven't yet, but I've been doing other crafty stuffs.

yeah! looks great ;) I have anything to say but that this picture looks wonderful. No flattering ^^;; Is very good, and has a line mixture between airshell and other artists. LF (airshell) doesn't use too much lines values (if I remember right). Line values: bigger when closer, smaller when farther. You may add this and will pop up the picture a lot, but take in mind that not all artists/magaka or whatever use line values. That means, not adding lines values may be part of your style, so it's ok.
Then, I admire you that you want to watercolor the pic. Is good to take challenges!

Wow, thanks for making me (and everyone else) notice it, I never realized it. So I guess my stuff looks kinda flat...wow that's bad. Really bad.

Youre inking style is about 500x more varied than mine is. ;P

I don't think lack of line variation is a bad thing-- it depends on whether it works within your drawing style or not. You _can_ always push it further to see what happens (or if it's a personal goal), but your drawing style doesn't really need it, as far as I can tell. (If you look at it in terms of _style_)

To me, it's sort of is *_* While it's very nice to have it in illustrations, I think it's not very good at all for comics, especially those full of backgrounds, because yeah, it flattens everything and makes everything looks pretty boring.(and I'm speaking as a comic reader here) You don't know if the characters are close to you or back in a distance, or worse, part of the furniture... I try my best to avoid it, but now I see I'm very bad at it.
So if this pandoro person is right, and I don't use line variations enough, and everyone else notice it but me, then I guess I should really rethink my inking techniques T_T You might think I'm a stupid or something now, but this really bothers me a lot.

Well, time for improving, I guess! :)

Hah, don't mind what that pandoro person is saying, you have an inking style of your own, that doesn't resemble anyone else. You should be very proud of it.
Having a drawing style is nice, but having an inking style is somewhat a dream - at least for me :)
If there are inking errors must be at proton size because I don't see them.
In any case, I only suggest that you post a bit larger pictures, (or closeup, I'd like to see one of this guy for example), so we can appreciate their beauty better ;)

Mwahaha... She's sleeping right now, and I left a stuffed animal on her head! *cackles*

;P She'll... uh... respond later when she gets online. Sorry. *flees~!*

Ehehhe, I don't consider that I have an inking style. ^^;; It's essentially just tracing what I drew, or in a bunch of cases, randomly choosing to ink a lines in a mess of lines that I drew, because I can't draw cleanly. That sort of thing leads to the errors when I choose wrong. ;x

There was one on the horse's cheek (though it actually looks ok now), 2 places on the guy's clothes, etc. Ohh boy, and if you see a bigger version of this, you'll see my inking of his hair made him look like he has dandruff! ^^;;

I didn't post a bigger pic bcause I thought it'd irritate people to have to scroll too much to see a pic. I'll post a bigger one when I get it from the other computer! :D Thanks so much for your comments!

I added a link to a larger version scan, but it's really low quality. :x And I can't rescan unless I peel all the masking fluid off. ^^;; Next time I'll do some better larger scans!
