Just a quicky. I had a good chiro visit yesterday. I was able to report no pain at all that day, and only a little low back pain the day before. Dr. K said everything seemed to be doing well. She dropped me down to "Maintenance" level. I feel like I'm quite at "maintenance" yet, and I'm still seeing her twice a week, but I guess that means I'm ( Read more... )

Hooray for pain-free days! May you have many more. :-)

I always thought those chairs looked neat. I've sat (knelt?) in them for short periods and found them quite comfortable. I'm betting it subtly strengthens your back by not letting you sag against a backrest.

I've also sat in kneeling chairs for a short while, but never a full day. They seem very comfortable, at least for short usage. I'm excited to try one for a full day.

Dr. K thinks they work by not forcing your psoas to shorten. I guess that makes sense. If your psoas is flexed, your lower back is stretched, leading to pain. As you say, it probably also forces you to strengthen your back by keeping it erect.

I figure at the least it will feel good for short periods. If I ever get fatigued I can always go back to my normal chair. I am also tempted by the exercise ball chairs (that come with a frame and wheels so they don't keep rolling away from you).

It's too bad that you don't live near here. I have one of those chairs that I want to get rid of (for free).

Yes, that is too bad. They are not cheap. I bet you could easily give one away at a chiropractor's office, though. Or if you have Freecycle, someone would snatch it up in a heartbeat.

I have a friend who has that chair- and it works wonders for her back problems! Help a tremendous amount (in addition to these other supportive things she has on various 'normal' chairs throughout her house).

I hope your back continue to feel better and better :)

Yay, testimonial! I also have supportive things on my chairs, but I'm excited to try this one as well.

Thank you. I hope so too. I know that the more exercises I do, and the stronger it gets, the better it will feel. It's just a slow process.
