Conkle's Hollow in November

I did get up early enough Sunday to go for that hike to Conkle's Hollow. The weather was very warm for November, in the 60's. I left the house around 11:00 (yes, I went alone :) The drive down to the nature preserve took longer than the hour that the guide book indicated, but I didn't mind much. when i was in college [oberlin] i took a class on environmental history & we took some field trips around the cleveland/akron/toledo area. it was so cool! ohio is so ... *obviously glacial*. and the forests are in that transition you find around the great lakes, where they're turning from the predominantly decidiousness of the coastal plains to the more-conifers of the subarctic forests.

That sounds so neat! I have stayed away from the northern parts of Ohio because of the flatness. But transitioning plant communities are really cool. Perhaps I should rethink things and pay a visit to the state parks in the northern areas of the state.
