Yunho/Jaejoong | pg13
they have to get married because of a dumb promise their grandfathers made to each other
previous When Jaejoong comes back home from his classes the next day, he is welcomed by a woman he’s never met before. “You must be my new brother in law.” She squeals, throwing her arms around Jaejoong and bringing him in a tight hug.
“Can’t - breathe.” Jaejoong wheezes.
The lady pulls back and chuckles; “Hi, I am Jihye. Your sister-in-law.”
“Oh. Hi there.” Jaejoong smiles. “Did you fly back with mom and dad?”
“Yup.” She says, side stepping to let Jaejoong in. “I am guessing you’ve heard about me?”
“Oh yeah, Yunho was pretty damn upset that you couldn’t make it for the wedding.”
“Yes, yes. I got an earful from everyone.” She grins.
“Is that Jaejoong?”
Mama Jung makes her way to Jaejoong and hugs him. “I think this is the first time I am seeing you after the wedding!” She says, pinching Jaejoong’s cheeks.
“Welcome home. Where’s dad?” Jaejoong asks and Mama Jung rolls her eyes. “At the office, like dad like son, I suppose.” The woman laughs. “Are you hungry? I’ve made some lunch.”
“So…” Jihye wriggles her eyebrows. “How is it?”
“Uh, good? I love the kimchi.”
Jihye snorts. “I meant married life.”
“It’s - “Jaejoong contemplates, taking his time chewing his food. “- good, I guess?” He shrugs.
“No, I mean - how is it?” Jihye persists.
“She’s asking you about your sex life, darling.” Mama Jung says, pouring a glass of water for Jaejoong.
“Oh.” Jaejoong’s ears turn red and he feels warm around his face. “It’s - “
“Did you spend our honeymoon gift well?” Mama Jung asks and Jihye quips up in curiosity. “Let me guess, a pack of condoms?”
“How did you know?” Mama Jung frowns.
“You are too damn predictable, ma. Anyway,” Jihye turns to Jaejoong. “I, on the other hand, have a better wedding gift for you. But I couldn’t wrap it for you, I hope that’s okay.”
“That’s fine.” Jaejoong says with a wave. “It’s the thought that counts.”
“Great, finish up your lunch fast and we’ll go together to get it.”
Jaejoong stares at the apartment.
It’s a fully furnished pent house. Full with two bedrooms, a library which could be easily turned into an office (for Yunho, obviously), a bathroom big enough to hold a Jacuzzi, plush leather couches, a LCD, a modular kitchen, state of the art appliances and everything.
“You -“
“Yup.”
“I mean, did you - “
“Yup.”
“But - why - “
“Our parents gave you all a box of condoms, like that is going to get the both of you to have sex. Me, my game is strong.” Jihye snorts. “I gave you a sex pad.” She grins. “Your own place where you are at the liberty to fuck wherever you want to.”
“I - the thing is we haven’t - I mean - “
“I know, I know.” Jihye smiles, sitting on the sofa and crossing her legs. “I was pretty sure you and Yunho wouldn’t have done it, yet.”
Jaejoong blushes and looks away. “Nice kitchen.” He comments, walking past the living room.
“The spot between his collar bones.” Jihye says.
“What?” Jaejoong turns around.
“Yunho is most sensitive there.”
“I- “
“You are going to have to learn.” Jihye says, walking to the kitchen. “You are going to spend your life with him - that is if you want to?”
“Ye-yes.”
“Then you are going to get to know this man inside out.” Jihye says, reaching out and holding Jaejoong’s hand. “Come, sit.”
Jaejoong takes a seat next to her at the kitchen counter and doesn’t have the guts to look up into his sister in law’s eyes.
“You’re so shy!” She coos, leaning forward and pinching his cheeks.
Jaejoong gives a small smile and looks up at Jihye; “Look at you…” Jihye sighs, staring at Jaejoong. “Look at those eyes.”
“Noona.” Jaejoong whines, looking away.
Jihye bursts into laughter and pinches Jaejoong’s cheeks again. “Yunho is going to fall in love with you.” She says, shaking her head.
“You don’t know that.” Jaejoong protests.
Jihye scoffs; “Please, Yunho is an open book.” She rolls her eyes.
Jaejoong smiles.
“But remember, Jaejoong, just because he’s an open book doesn’t mean you shouldn’t read in between the lines. Yunho is - he’s something else.”
“Has he never fallen in love before?”
“Nope.” She replies. “Yunho’s never taken any of his relationships seriously.”
“Oh god, that’s exactly what he says.”
“Yeah, it’s the truth.” Jihye shrugs. “But you know, it’s not going to be easy, this whole falling in love thing and of course, getting used to the fact that he’s your husband - it’s going to take a while.”
“Yeah, I know. I still can’t believe he’s my husband”
“I hope the both of you build a great relationship together. Your marriage is probably the most important relationship you are to get yourself in.”
“And since this was an arrangement,” Jihye continues. “I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you.”
“What about you?” Jaejoong asks.
“Ah, I met Howan during my senior year in college and things just fell into place.”
“Wow, you have it so easy.” Jaejoong laughs.
“Marriage is never easy.”
“I should probably enrol myself for marriage classes. You should teach me.”
Jihye laughs. “Rule number one, Jaejoong-ah, never take marriage advice from anyone. Not even your mother. Listen to this.” She pokes Jaejoong’s chest. “It can give you pretty good suggestions and sometimes, when you have to, let this,” She pokes his head. “Rule over your heart. It helps.”
“Thanks.” Jaejoong mumbles. “Not just for this apartment but, for you know - “
“I know.”
“Come on, let’s go back home and get yours and Yunho’s stuff packed. You need to move in ASAP.”
When they walk into the Jung mansion, they are welcomed by a tiny three year old waddling his way to Jihye with his arms wide open and his mouth split in a wide grin. “Hi you!” Jihye says, squatting down and hugging the boy. “Meet your new uncle.” She says, picking her son up and pointing to Jaejoong.
“Hi.” The little kid says shyly, leaning into his mother’s neck and waving.
“Hi.” Jaejoong laughs, pinching the kid’s cheeks softly. “I’m Jaejoong, what’s your name?”
“I am Jiwon.” He says.
“He’s so cute.” Jaejoong coos.
“He’s a brat.” Jihye says.
Jaejoong laughs when little Jiwon gives his mother a very sloppy kiss. She groans and laughs at the same time.
“Hey , you’re home. Oh, you must my new brother-in-law.” A tall, handsome man comes into view and smiles widely at Jaejoong and Jihye. “I’m Howan.” He introduces himself.
“Papa bought me ice cream and asked me not to tell you.” Jiwon says.
“Traitor.” Howan laughs and Jihye rolls her eyes. “Are you serious? Ice cream?”
“I am going to go and freshen up.” Jaejoong says and excuses himself away.
Throughout dinner, Jaejoong can’t help but feel his heart being tugged by how everyone keeps cooing at Jiwon and how the little boy keeps relishing in the attention. He loves how Jihye tells Howan to rest while she puts Jiwon to sleep. He even loves how Papa Jung cuts out fruits for Mama Jung.
Jaejoong lets out a frustrated scream when he plops on his bed. He looks over at the empty side and sighs loudly and pats it. “Come back fast.” He whispers, pulling the pillow close and hugging it.
He pulls out a phone and sends out a text to Heechul but, it’s a Wednesday night and that usually means it’s Movie night for Heechul and Hangeng so, he sends out a mass text to all his of his eight sisters and most of them reply with a wow how Yunho sick are you, puppy? or a text Yunho, not me..
He knows he could message Yunho, but he’s pretty sure Yunho is busy and Yunho had mentioned earlier in the day that he would be packed with meetings.
So Jaejoong sighs, sinks into the cushions and decides it’s best to just fall asleep listening to Xiah Junsu’s ballads.
