Yunho/Jaejoong | pg13
they have to get married because of a dumb promise their grandfathers made to each other

previous

Heechul elbows Jaejoong ‘s ribs to get his attention. Jaejoong jerks in shock and stares at his friend; “What?” He snaps.

“I have been trying to ask you something for the past five minutes and you are just staring at space.”

“Sorry.” Jaejoong mumbles. “I was thinking about something.”

“Something?” Heechul smirks. “Or someone?”

Heechul knows his best friend like the back of his hand, he knows what makes Jaejoong smile, frown; he knows what makes him tick and he even knows what makes Jaejoong cry - though that is a rare occurrence in Jaejoong’s life. They have been friends since they were in their nappies - sometimes Jaejoong’s jokes that they were always meant to be friends since their mothers were.

Jaejoong rolls his eyes; “I was thinking about my dissertation.”

“I am sure.” Heechul snickers, twirling his pencil. “It’s alright Yunho will be back in another three days.”

“I was not thinking about Yunho.” Jaejoong rolls his eyes.

“Jaejoong, you and I both know you are an open book to me.”

“Okay you are officially annoying me now.” Jaejoong says, stacking his books together. “I need to do more research, do you wanna come with to the library?”

“Can’t. Promised Hankyung I’d go with him to meet his sister. Apparently, she’s as large as a whale and she’s so hormonal that she cries and laughs at the same time. I am going to love her.”

Jaejoong laughs. “Right, okay. I’ll see you tomorrow, then?”

“Hm, yeah. Could you just mail me those law notes, I am so sick of asking that dumb professor.”

“Done. And don’t forget to your hard-disk tomorrow and I have your Junsu photobook, remind me to get for you, I am done scanning it. Also, you never told me about the whole Hankyung-wants-you-to-move-to-China conversation.”

Heechul shrugs; “Meh, I don’t know. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”

“You are totally going to China after graduation, aren’t you?”

Heechul grins. “Maybe. Now, go.”

“Alright, see you.”

By the time Jaejoong reaches home, it’s a little past six and he’s tired to the bone. Not only did he spend three hours trying to collect information for his dissertation, for some godforsaken reason, he had decided the weather was splendid and that he had wanted to walk home.

Home is a good ten kilometres away from his university.

He stumbles into the living room and collapses on the sofa. The house is dead quiet. Yunho’s parents were expected to arrive the next day so really, Jaejoong is only spending one night alone in the Jung mansion.

He sighs loudly and pulls his phone out and stares at the blank screen. He knows that Yunho is still in a meeting so he shouldn’t disturb him. He contemplates whether or not to watch a movie, maybe he could call up Heechul or he could just eat dinner and retire for the night.

He stretches and dawdles into the kitchen and decides to warm up dinner.

His phone buzzes; it’s a message from Yunho and the boy instantly feels happier.

^^ are you back home?

yep Jaejoong types. Just got back. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired. I think I am gonna sleep

He puts his phone aside but it’s buzzing again.

eat something

im warming up dinner

what’s for dinner? Im hungry ): this old man wont stop talking about some progress and economical value and I am not sure what

are you texting me during a meeting

it isn’t an important one

I figured

Jaejoong completely tunes out the oven that’s pinging for his attention, telling him to take his dinner out, it’s warmed up.

my stomach just grumbled so loudly I had to cough to get everyone’s attention away from it

Jaejoong laughs, leaning against the kitchen counter; when did you last eat what?

drank orange juice in the morning.

Jaejoong straightens up and glares at the phone, like the piece of technology had done him a personal wrong. what?!!?!!?!??! Why AR EYOUSO STUPID OMFG! You are going to faint and die and it’s gonna make news everywhere and I am going to be the sad young boy whose husband died before their marriage began and then I am going to meet someone more handsome and dashing and I will refuse to fall in love with him because of some lame loyalty I have to your dead body but in the end love prevails all SO DO YOU WANT THIS TO HAPPEN, JUNG YUNO? DO YOU WANT ME TO FALL IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE?

….wow you have a good imagination. Is that one of your fanfiction plot?

…..maybe……
But that’s obviously not that point. You are missing the point here

don’t worry. Meeting gets over in about ten minutes and I am going to go up to my room and eat everything that’s on the menu.

That kind of alright, I guess. I just don’t like it when people don’t eat, you know? It’s just pissing off. There was this guy in my high school who used to do that - just ugh, eat the goddamn food. Anyway when are you leaving for Macau? Also please click lots of pictures and go out and see the place, don’t just hole up in your hotel room you old man.

leaving tomorrow morning. I hate morning flights! ):< do you wanna come to Macau?

As tempting as it sound to Jaejoong; can’t ): I have lots of classes where I am falling behind.

He waits for a beat and when Yunho doesn’t reply, he slides the phone on the counter and pulls out the food from the over. The dish has gotten cold again and he momentarily wonders if he ever heated it in the first place.

He decides to (re)heat it again.

His phone buzzes and he freezes when he sees Yunho’s message; I miss you.

Possibly one of the most intimate messages Yunho has ever sent him in the month that they were together and Jaejoong feels numb. He looks around the kitchen, fingers still over his phone’s keypad, not sure what to say. And only when his cheeks start hurting does he realize he’s been grinning widely the whole time.

wow, much appreciation for the kind of reciprocation you give Yunho replies and Jaejoong snaps out of it.

come home. Jaejoong types without thinking.

He writes out another message; come home as soon as possible. I miss you very, very much.

He wants to throw his phone away once he’s sent the message. He covers his face with his palms and smiles like an idiot. His heart is thumping wildly in his throat and he cannot believe he sent out a corny message to his husband.

“Oh God.” Jaejoong groans loudly, smile still wide. “Yunho’s my husband.” He laughs.

He sounds like a madman in his head but then again, hey, no one is at home. He laughs out again and this time, he remembers to take out dinner. He settles in by the counter and waits for Yunho’s reply.

Tonight was going to be a long night after all.

next

a/n: baby steps.
Okay ya’ll need not worry about Yoochun for a while now. Things need to settle between Yunho and Jaejoong - they need to establish a relationship.

I kinda really like this chapter. (I may or may not have used tit bits of conversations I’ve actually had!)

Tell me what you guys think, much love x
