Conversations with my family:

Mom: Well, I've had quite the day. Picking [...cut for I don't really care]. How about you? Are you still being lazy?

Me: ...I had surgery. Thanks.

Mom: Well, there's no need to lay about like that! You're young! You should be up and working!

Me: ...Surgery.

Mom: I don't see what's the problem.

Me: Aside from the fact that I ( Read more... )

There are words for people who pull that shit. I am, however, not comfortable saying them about someone else's mum. You may use your imagination.

Eh, my mother means well is the hell of the thing. I know exactly what I am to them, and well. It's a complicated relationship =) Thanks, though. I was going for the funny, more than anything. My family has luggage of issues, it often makes for amusing conversations.

Thanks =) I'm feeling loads better than I did. Now if my appetite would come back.

...I may have to do something drastic. Like send Himself out on a hunting expedition for all my favorite ice cream brands =D

I am so sorry for you loss. What a blow. I can't even imagine =( I am feeling much, much better, though the appetite is slow to come back. We're pretty sure that's all the medication's doing, but since the idea of chocolate sounds tempting again, and I'm down to one pill a day, I think we've found our culprit.

Again, I am so sorry, and I'll keep that in mind. It's very good advice, for anyone and everyone doing any type of medical procedure.

Maybe surgery is just too big a word for her? ;)

Hah, no. She just really does not like acknowledging that the people she loves are in pain and have been through something medically significant. I think she thinks that if she just laughs it off, everything will be fine and there will be nothing to worry about. She's been calling me almost every day, which is unusual for her, so I know she's sitting somewhere, smoking a pack of cigarettes, freaking out about what COULD have happened. *shrug*

Verbal communication between family members? What is this insanity you speak of? No, we must code our communications in confusing and/or insulting questions and mask our emotions! =D

You mean that thing where your mother tells you the same thing ten times and your father's annoyed because you didn't make your plans around that thing he never told anyone at all?
