Happy Birthday Kat!

Nov 02, 2006 16:24

In honor of kittykatkatja's birthday, a small group of us got together at The Melting Pot. Chris, Aimee, Rob, Elisa, Noel and I joined Kat in celebrating. I've never been there, so it was an unusual experience for me. I LOVED the cheese fondue appetizers (the Fiesta was tasty, the Quatro Formaggio was a bit odd, but the Traditional Swiss was amazing!), with ( Read more... )

Ummm.... did no one tell you that all you have to do is ask and they'll bring more of whatever dessert items you'd like to dip in your chocolate? For example, had you asked, your server would've happily brought you a plate full o' brownies for dipping. It's a sin that you wasted someo f that chocolate fondue...

I think the way it went was, the server asked if she could bring a plate of brownies, and Rich nodded and Noel said that we had plenty of food, and she believed Noel. I thought she was going to bring more, but didn't.

It was still very very very wonderful, and I appreciate Rich's going through the pain and torture of cooking his own food. He did like the small metal plates, too, as well as the cheese. :)

I had a perfect time, and a perfect birthday, and was incredibly happy to be sharing it with such great people. Thank you all, so much! *hug hug hug*

Definitely Brazilian Steakhouses from now on, I promise - though we ladies may hit the Ladies Night Out at Melting Pot: Wednesdays are free chocolate and cheese fondue in the lounge until 7:30pm! Mmmm!

mmmmm
I've never been there. The prices always detoured me and some of the things people dip - weird. Whatever happened to bread?

Once upon a time my cousin was dateing (didn't work out) someone who worked at The Melting Pot. I think he was a manager or something and they got a discount. Since then I've always wanted to try the place, just once. I don't think it'd turn out to be my cup of tea. But it could be fun to try.

The Melting Pot IS rather expensive for what it is. Try doing it yourself... all you need is an inexpensive fondue pot and some basic ingredients. Find a time-honored recipe and don't forget: the pot is not for melting the cheese or chocolate, but for keeping it liquid once it's melted. Keep the wine circulating; wine is the key to a successful fondue. At the end, pass tiny glasses of iced kirschwasser (you will have purchased a bottle of the stuff and used only a few ounces in the mix). Easy, cheap, fun. If you're a pyro, you can also have fun with the jellied fuel.
