So apparently, I like to kick Jack's ass. I may have to go write him some porn to make up for this.

Title: Five times Nine Times Jack O’Neill Broke A Bone.
Category: er...whump? Is that a category? Gen.
Episode Related: Solitudes mainly, but also any that reference Jack’s life before the SGC.
Season: One and pre-season one.
Pairing: Jack/Sara, but ( Read more... )

Yes, whump is a category. Hell, it's an entire genre. Trust me. *G*

Particularly loved #6/#8 -- very elegantly done. And #7 was wonderful.

One note on #1: we didn't have VCRs yet, let alone DVD players. The only way to watch a movie more than once was in repeat showings at a movie theatre, or if the TV company actually aired it more than once, which they never did in close succession. They used to air "The Wizard of Oz" once a year . . .

:D Yay! Feedback! Heh. Posted three fics in the last three days and this is only the second comment!

I'm glad 6 and 8 worked...I wasn't sure about that.

#1: Bugger. Lol. Hmmm...

They could have been (supposedly) safely reading comic books in Jack's room. Or watching cartoons in the living room. Saturday mornings were usually given over to cartoons -- often the only time in a week kids had free rein over the TV.

And #6/#8 totally worked. Guh!

Oh how beautiful! Solitudes fic! There is nothing better than Solitudes fic! Seriously, this episode has to be the best whumping ever. It's no coincidence that I wrote my first story ever about this one ( ... )

I adore Solitudes, it's one of my faves. :)

I never actually thought about how he might have gotten all the broken bones. - Heh, I guess my mind is just twisted like that! *g*

The one in the desert touched me most. Such desperation. - Wow, that was the part I found hardest to write. I'm glad the desperation came through. :)

No, the phones were connected to the wall, and you had to put your finger into the wheel and turn it - and you had to remember the number in your head! LOL The little kids looked as if they didn't believe it. - LMAO!! Kids today huh? *g*

Thank you so much for the great feedback. :)

Wanna see my try on the topic?

http://www.jackfic.net/archive/archive/40/cold.html

I'm going to post it on my LJ one day, then you can comment there, if you want to. Actually, this is even the second story (but the first one I posted). The really first one was only the dialogue from the episode, with written thoughts and feelings in between.

This episode made me a writer, because I wanted to explore what Jack was really thinking while trying to convice Sam that they would make it. And that RDA has surely cracked some ribs already in his life helps him to play it so perfectly. The viewer is hurting together with him.

If I don't stop soon I'm writing a review into here ;)

His son’s life bracketed by one tiny bone in his hand.

omg, that line made me cry. It's so desperately sad.

Really loved this fic, the many (painful) exploits of Jack O'Neill, and especially loved how you capped it off with Solitudes and Jack himself remembering all these incidents.

Reminding him of all the broken bones he’s had before isn’t helping.

No, it really wouldn't help much. Poor Jack, and poor Sam. Ouch.

*hands you tissues*

I'm glad you liked it.

That self-deprecating half laugh and "Uh...no, this would be...nine" is just too intriguing to leave alone.

I like the progression throughout his life - from a daredevil boy through the life-hardened man.

One caveat - the metatarsals are in the foot, the metacarpals are in the hand.

the metatarsals are in the foot, the metacarpals are in the hand. - Now see, I know that... *headdesk* Wiki'd it and everything to double check. Will fix. Thanks for the catch!
