Any fast-moving creature will always get a "startle" reflex out of me at literal first glance... a jump and a scream. But I am not really terrified of anything on your list. I love tarantulas and snakes.

when your hubby comes from Australia, being wary of spiders and snakes isn't an irrational fear.... more like a survival skill

Zombies send me screaming. As do mice and rats. I've never screamed at a higher pitch than when a mouse ran over my foot and across the room.

I know the exact day I became scared of spiders. It was the day my family moved into our new house (I was 5 & getting ready to start school). I jumped out of the car and started running a lap around the outside of the house.

Unknown to me at the time, there was a Black Widow on a web between a tree and the north side of the house. She was in the middle of the web, just about level with my face. We had a most unwelcome, frenzied introduction. I have never been able to relax with spiders since.

A black widow? Hmm...not very likely. They're not orb weavers and generally like dark, secluded places such as rubbish/wood piles or cellars.

My guess it was a large orb weaver - they can be scary looking up close.
