The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

As many of you already know, I was on vacation last week and in the process experienced a rather wild 'roller coaster' rides. Instead of a detailed, blow-by-blow summary of last week's events, here's an outline:

The Milky Way so bright that it cast diffuse shadows on the ground, awesome views in all sizes of telescopes

So it did turn out to be the motherboard on the big box?

Yeah, I think it is the motherboard. In the boot-up, all of the drives start to spin up (DVD and HD) before the 'nothing' hits.

As for the skies - this is one of the darkest in the Southeast and that was also the opinion of many of the other amateurs.

I didn't know the Milky Way could cast shoadows. I really need come down there sometime so you can show me astronomy wonders.

The skies were truly spectacular - rivaling some of the best I've seen in the west.

You would be amazed by the beauty of the night sky.

Always amazed at the night sky. I was unaware that you had such dark skies your area though. I hadn't seen the Milky Way in ... years and we moved to South Dakota and OMGs, it was sooooooo beautiful.
