The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
As many of you already know, I was on vacation last week and in the process experienced a rather wild 'roller coaster' rides. Instead of a detailed, blow-by-blow summary of last week's events, here's an outline:
The "Good"
- awesome 50th Natal Day Celebration (Oct 6th)
- gifts and cool prezzies (including a very generous PayPal donation)
- beautiful skies and cool temperatures
- Excellent Peach State Star Gaze (PSSG) under very dark and transparent skies
- The Milky Way so bright that it cast diffuse shadows on the ground, awesome views in all sizes of telescopes
- eating BBQ steak, bratwurst and other yummies at the PSSG
The BAD..
- going to JJ's funeral and wake
- blowing out the motherboard on my main box
- killer aches/pains from sleeping on a couch at the PSSG
- getting a touch of the 'Star Party Crud'
- 6-month old, recently replaced fan belt starting to squeal
The Ugly..
- runaway mount and various other weird disasters in using my 102mm refractor for imaging (though the scope worked beautifully visually)
- all manner of stupid/cursed problems in imaging setup and polar alignment
- seeing "Moe" and "Shemp" in disheveled states before the power of caffeine sets in
- running out of $$ before the PSSG (basically, no new toys for the doctor)
I think you guys get the picture.
At home at last..
After being abandoned for 4 days, the Shadow-kitty was happy to see me come home Sunday afternoon. She was a demanding and frolicsome beast, requiring her food bowls to be filled with treats and chair-spinning attentions from her owner personal cat-slave.
"Oh, look - see how cute I am. Now spin me before I bite your leg!"
So did I miss anything interesting posts over the weekend?
