Star Partying..

Oct 12, 2007 13:55

At the moment I'm taking a break from the talks and messing around on the 'net. Last night was a very clear and rather cool night (down to the mid-40's) under the stars. It was a bit too windy and unsettled for imaging, so I spent some time looking through Shemp's 20 and 32-inch telescopes. We looked at a variety of nebulae and galaxies, though the best object of the night was the "Milky Way". The star clouds and dark rifts/motes were especially distinct, and at times you could even see a faint, diffuse shadow cast by the dim light of billions of distant stars.

Later this evening when the most of the scopes are uncovered I will take some pictures of the telescopes and people at this event.

So have fun in LJ land, and don't kill each other..
