Off-world again. ptooey.

Well, a fine howd'ya do. I get to go off-world again and I'll miss Radek's return. He's not gonna be happy. At least we know what to expect, where I'm going. The Genii we're in truce with, Laden's bunch, need some help getting some atomic shielding installed. At least that's easy. I've got a small team, but a couple more soldiers this time. Ba'al watched on the monitor as the red headed scientist was escorted to a room and locked inside. In his hands was Astarte, coiled around his wrist as he held her. He looked down at her as he motioned to the screen. "Astarte, my love, does she suit you?"

Astarte weaved in his hand then bobbed up and down decisively, hissing approvingly.

"Very well, love." He spun on his heel and left the room. A few minutes later he was entering the room. The door shut behind him with a chilling finality.

"Hello, my dear.

Rae frowned as the door shut. There wasn't any core in her to shield. It was just a room... What the hell? She took a couple strides forward, not really seeing the dark corners, just the simple table and chairs in the middle of the room. The door opened and closed, causing her to turn suddenly.

"Hello, my dear."

A tall man stood in front of her, imposing and strong. His clothes fit him extremely well and were regal in cut, yet obviously made to move in. His eyes were dark and cold, and he smiled ominously behind his sharply trimmed moustache and goatee. His left hand was covered in some strange kind of jewelry, golden in color, that only seemed to cover his fingertips. It was what was in his right hand that caused her fear, however. An alien snake, long with wicked looking fins and four spikes for a mouth with red eyes. They only place she'd seen anything like that... was the briefing back at SGC on the Goa'uld... Her eyes snapped back up to the man's in fear and knowledge.

"Who the hell are you? And what do you want?"

Ba'al smiles as he watches comprehension dawn on the woman before her. Such fire. Such beauty. Yes, she would suit his Queen well.

"I am Ba'al and I want nothing more than to be reunited with my wife, Astarte here." He gently lifts Astarte, who snaps her mandibles at Rae. "All you have to do is hold still. After a moment's pain, all will be right again." He sounds so reasonable, so friendly. If it wasn't for the goa'uld symbiote he held, and the dark glint to his brown eyes, you would think he was the most reasonable, logical, kindest man you ever met.

"Now don't make this hard on yourself, dear." He raised his left hand, showing the orange jewel in the center. "I would prefer not to have to make you lose consciousness."

Rae started at his demands. Was he insane? Oh, wait, duh. He had a mind-controlling snake inside him thinking it was an ancient god. Of course he was certifiable. But how to get out of this?

Her eyes quickly tracked the room as she talked, backing up a little. "Well, I'm afraid that's just too damn bad. I'm a married woman, and not the slightest bit interested in you, or in females, either, thank you very much. And I've already got a doctor, so I don't believe the 'this'll only hurt for a minute' crap."

The small of her back hit the table's edge. Her heavy protective apron kept her from moving fast, and the protective gloves she'd donned for work were large and long. Rae held up a hand in a blocking gesture as his hand rose to reveal an entrancing jewel in his palm. All she could think was, 'That's a lot bigger than the ones in Logan's Run...'

Astarte thrills to have her personal items back. The touch of her husband is sweet and thrilling as he gently places her wing device on her neck and her glove on her left hand. She smiles deviously ( ... )

Ba'al's smile is indulgent and smitten all at once as he watches his wife 'play' with her toys. He leans into her hand and turns to kiss her palm. "I understand, beloved. Go. Learn what you can. I will secure our possition in this galaxy."

He's about to step away, to let her go, but then he remembers something. "Oh, my Queen, you should be wary. Steven reported there is a young boy with connections to the Tau'ri's SG1. He speaks and reads Ancient fluently. He is already suspicious of Steven." He runs the back of his hand down her face. "Be careful, my beloved." He leaned down to place a kiss on her forehead then on her lips. "You are most precious to me, my Astarte. I would not see any ill befall you."

Ba'al's eyes widened in shocked outrage. "A clone? Then you had best be extra careful, beloved. He has been host at least once; he may be able to sense you." His eyes narrow at the mention of Daniel coming. "Yes, you would do well to avoid O'Neill and Jackson. Be careful, my love."

He smiles at her and watches her leave. Once she is gone he frowns. Having O'Neill and Jackson in the same galaxy would be a problem, but not a major one. The fact that Atlantis was aware he was in this galaxy, again, was a problem. No matter. He would avoid them where he could, pleed to be an ally when he could not.

Ba'al turned and left the room without another word, completely ignoring the corpse on the floor.

Astarte called upon the memories of her host to see the faces she'd expect upon return. How to react, what to say... It would take constant vigilance to remain in control and act like this woman. How could she not comprehend what she held? The power she could have wielded? Fool. It was all Astarte's now, and she looked forward to it. She stepped through the event horizon, cool and tingling ( ... )

Astarte smiled. This one was quite the kisser, if a little worrywart. She managed to look worried at the mention of her Lord, but she was quite pleased that they didn't suspect her at all. It was easy to draw up the host's emotions as her own. As if a script played behind her eyes for her to read... She tried to project a little sense of being tired. Manipulating his empathic sense seemed to work as he led her away, likely towards their quarters. It was hard not to chuckle at his protectiveness. Yes, this one would make a decent First Prime, if he'd ever just calm down ( ... )

While she's off to change, some of her behavior since returning slowly seeps into his consciousness as odd. But she has just been to the Genii homeworld. That'd be enough to rattle anyone. He watches her when she comes back, surprised by the dress when normally she would go for something more comfortable, but says nothing ( ... )
