I seem to have missed an issue of Architectural Digest

Totally missed the new trend of using license plates as art. While I find them quite appropriate when nailed to the walls - interior and exterior - of garages and outbuildings, the thought of them as being saucy inside a home leaves me gagging.

Florida sauce???? )

look at meeee, troll: confirmed, speshul, wahh wahh wahh, attention whore, repeat offender, bragging, wtf

I agree. Done nicely in a shadow box with coordinating decor, I think it would look just fine.

Agreed. My husband and I have old plates hanging in our garage. They're colorful and have memories attached to them.

I have my collection of license plates (from about a dozen different states, lots of different designs) running along the top of a closet/wall sort of like a border in a spare bedroom. Apparently that's not classy enough for someone with a name like "tudorpot" but I like it. It's my collection, I like to look at it.

I'm growing very tired of the poor attempts at snark by some in this community.

Yeah, I mean, it's not my style either but it's not like they are wanting to nail bloody entrails to the wall...which is SO 2006.

Hey, don't count it out! Wait a bit longer and you could do it and say you're all retro and shit.

I've seen homes that have used them in interesting ways; as a teen I babysat for a military family who had an entire wall full of them in individual shadow boxes surrounded by pictures and mementos of their favorite attractions from that state, like a roadmap of everywhere they'd been stationed.

I have one of the export plates from my dad's car, from when we moved back from Dubai in 1989, hanging on my wall. Loads of sentimental value!

Not my thing, but I don't see why it couldn't be done in a way that it would look nice.

Art is what you can get away with, remember? It's not my style, but since I love pop/advertising art it's not very far from my style. I'd hang a vintage metal advertising sign in my house if I found one I liked, and you know a little cursory googling results in some pretty sweet ideas.
