Hey, so long as my hydro doesn't go out for a week, I'm feeling A-okay about this storm!

Did you guys get hit by the ice storm a couple weeks ago?

I read your post about losing your hydro. That was crazy. Especially how the town kept losing it in random bursts like that. But yeah, if we'd lost our power (thank goodness we didn't) in this latest round of freezing temps, we'd have had to hit a hotel or something because even under the covers together, you'd be dead in an hour or two. It's 2F outside right now and it's like a freaking heatwave by comparison!

Michigan certainly got hit hard, for sure, but we were lucky enough to be just south of the worst of it. My friend who lives about 30 minutes to the north though lost her power for three days. We got a half a foot of snow that time and another whole foot this time and it is suppose to snow again on Saturday. Michigan can kiss my ass. ;)

How did you fare in this latest round?

It's getting that cold down here, too, but we're probably only going to get about two inches of snow. (I mean, our non-wind chill temps will go down to about zero. I doubt we'll go down to thirty below!)

Our lowest temps hit -15, which is almost 50 below freezing and we got almost an entire foot of snow which, added onto the snow we had from the ice storm the week before, we now have 16 inches outside, which then blew into drifts that are at minimum (based on my sister's height who went outside and fell in one) 2 1/2 feet high. I know we are made of heartier stuff here in regards to enduring the cold, but this is fucked up shit, man. So I laugh at your two inches of snow. You come back and laugh at me when it's 105 outside this summer.

Also, I would prefer being trapped in Sands of Time with SHIRTLESS Jake Gyllenhaal. :)That's not an option! Teenage Jake Gyllenhaal is the model that comes with The Day After Tomorrow style apocalypse. If you don't like it, please file a complaint with The Apocalypse Board (I believe they are ( ... )

Mock all you want - I'm just glad our power didn't go out and our pipes didn't freeze, which happened to a LOT of people (and schools, so I had another "snow" day today, which I completely wasted in napping, housework, and reading - yay for wasted time!).

I won't laugh at you when it's 105 - that's too damned hot!

Um. Damn. Nothing's worth a visit to W&H!

I am glad of that too - for us both! We were worried about the power because if we lost ours, then our mom would more than likely lose hers and we'd be stuck going to a hotel with my sister, me and my walker, my elderly mom, five cats and a dog. Can you imagine that sight?

(and schools, so I had another "snow" day today, which I completely wasted in napping, housework, and reading - yay for wasted time!).Yay for an excellent day off!! Now were you closed for the snow itself or for the temps, because I know a lot of places (us included) have rules about not having school if it is below a certain degree outside because too many kids walk to school. My sister works in the capitol (for the state) and the State actually had to close down because the Mayor was only allowing emergency persons on the road (police, emts, and doctors/hospital staff) and since 90% of State offices are in Lansing, they had to shut that ( ... )

Keep warm, hug kitties. Its not too bad here, very cold and snow but much lighter than other places have been getting. Did you see the Narnia story I wrote you?

The kitties have all been sleeping in bed with us, even the ones that aren't overly snuggly. It's just too damn cold to sleep by yourself! Those big front windows in our living room? Frost on the inside of them! (we had to hang blankets to keep the cold out). I saw your picture of the frost on the window over on Tumblr - that is some crazy stuff, man.

Did you see the Narnia story I wrote you?

I hadn't, but now that you pointed it out, I went and looked for it! I plan on reading it tonight! (while I've been so sick, I got behind on my Flist and I've been trying to catch up, but it wouldn't even let me go back that far, and that's just for friend's journals, not even communities and stuff. /shakes head/)

We didn't get quite that cold, but we got down to -15, which is still 40 degrees below freezing. Frost formed on the inside of our windows, and that's with the weather stripping up. We had to hang blankets to keep the frost out. (the kitties thought the blankets on the windows were little forts for them!)

Thank you! Yeah, I got out my super heavy-duty sweatshirt and even then, the only time I was really warm was in bed, under a pile of blankets and kitties. It's suppose to be all the way up to 15 degrees out tomorrow though! Heatwave! lol
