Please to be informing: What's the QIA stand for? I know LGBT is Lesbian,Gay, Bisexual,Transgender, but that's the rest?

Queer/Intersex/Asexual. The Q can also stand for 'Questioning'. (And I just saw 'GSM' or 'Gender and/or Sexual Minority' being used on Tumblr the other day. It's like alphabet soup up in here.)

Ahhh...ok another question. What's intersex? Also how exactly goes Queer differ from...well all the alphabet soup that came before it?

Well-spoken article.

Interestingly (and maybe this just speaks to where I hang out in the fandom), I've only heard "the gay agenda" re: DW in a favorable light, people squeeing about it.

As a straight woman who just got engaged to be married, I admit that I am more enthralled this season (and last) with how Moffat has managed to put into DW something that almost no scifi/adventure shows do: a married couple (now with a child, even) whose lives and adventures don't end when they marry! Marriage = settling down? No way. *huge grin*

Moffat: working cool character and sometimes unusual character stuff into DW since day one. :)

This, so very this.
What bothers me most about those cries of "PC" is the underlying message that merely acknowledging our existence is somehow wrong and pandering.

And I love it when shows handle it this way.
Buffy actually did that quite well also.

That's exactly what I love about it - it's just...there. In the end, there is the whole people are people vibe and I LOVE that!

BTW..your icon?! RAWK!

From the the podcast for ‘Silence in the Library’. It’s Moffat, David Tennant and Julie Gardner:

Moffat: You can sort of imagine that there was a television series where Alex Kingston rode around space with her little team of Daves and Anita. Probably romantically linked to all of them!
DT: *sporfle* [beat] What - you don’t think she’s... uh, faithful? To her husband... I’m not suggesting who her husband may be, but...
Moffat: Why would she be faithful to her husband if she doesn’t have one?
DT: In not suggesting that she has a husband, but if she were to have a husband... I think she’d be faithful to him.
[Julie is TOTALLY with David]
Moff: She’s a fifty-first century woman, come on!
DT [disapproving]: Don’t tar everyone with Captain Jack’s brush!

(That is a brilliant line. Although I absolutely think that River has a lot of fun with all KINDS of different species and genders ( ... )

Moffat very interestingly revealed that Donna's husband in the Library, Lee, originally would have turned out to be an overweight woman in 'RL'.

): I would've liked to've seen that idea, and it doesn't even sound that confusing. Plus, the whole people choosing who they want to appear as in the virtual world (and appearing as the opposite) was done really well in the anime series .HACK//sign.

....Moffat needs to revisit that idea in Series 7. xD

Excellent post!
The people who whine about the inclusions of gay characters or ethnic minorities or whatever really bother me. Every time I've seen someone ask someone why they have a problem with gay characters on the show, there's inevitably something like "I don't have a problem with gay people, I just don't like it when they shove it in my face."
And no one is shoving anything in their faces, just by existing. *headdesk*

I love that what seem to be the most awesome and popular characters of S6 so far are the gay ones. Almost all of fandom seemed to love Canton, and people have been crying for Vastra and Jenny to get their on spin-off since the episode aired.

I know a lot of fandom complained last year that there wasn't enough gay in S5, but I think what we've seen of S6 so far is really great.

I believe even in the watchalong post here, people were talking about wanting a spin-off right after the episode ended. XD
Seriously, though, I would watch it. I rewatched the whole episode last night, and found myself rewinding their scene at home over and over and wishing there was more of that.

Ack, that's horrible. My family doesn't know anything about my sexuality, I don't even really let on that I like men, let alone women, so I know how it feels when they say stupid insensitive stuff and don't realize it could hurt you. *hugs*

"Hey I don't have a problem with gay people, as long as they don't - you know - ACT gay..." Dumb asses
