Discussion Question: Why do you ship Doctor/Rose?

Oct 30, 2010 16:14

Our daily D/R moments aren't going anywhere, but I've been considering asking this for a while and would love to read all your answers:

What is it about Doctor/Rose that makes them your OTP? Or what is it about them that makes you ship it?

They are just in love! You can see it in their eyes, they can be themselves with one another, and I don;t think the Doctor was really like that with his other companions (new ones) he told Rose things about his past, they just understood each other so well and they just seem to fit perfectly together, they love each other, I think its that simple.
Sorry for the little ramble.

I love that they bring out the best in each other. I love that through Rose the Doctor was able to connect with people again and move past the Time War. I love that through the Doctor, Rose learned a new way of living. She learned how to live life to its fullest. I also love the sheer joy that they exude whenever they together. It's just so much fun to see them running across time and space together, having the time of their lives.

This. Rose reached in and touched the Doctor's heart, and he helped her grow and realise just how brave and strong she really was.

It's hard to say when I first started shipping Nine and Rose. Somewhere around "World War Three," (and of course now all the episodes before that fill me with happy shippy feelings as well :D) I was way late to the Doctor Who party, as it were, and tried to keep away from spoilers. But I just had to know if they ended up together. So I ended up watching the final scene from "Parting of the Ways" a bit early ( ... )

I tend towards canon ships. Well, idk if "canon" is right, but ships where there is something in the show. And obviously there's a lot in the show!

But I think I like them so much because they are at the same time this AMAZING EPIC UNIVERSE-CROSSING WORLD-SAVING pairing and two people who are just so normal and cute and in love. It's the strange juxtaposition of the two that appeals to me more than my ships normally do.

THIS! Well said, I think that's something I love about them as well...they're all epic and "the stuff of legends" and angsty and doomed, but when they're together they can be so ordinary and familiar and seem like just a normal couple--two lovers walking hand in hand....

Agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeee so much with both of your comments. They can be angsty and the most epic romance ever and soulmates/twin-souls etc etc etc, and then the rest of the time they're insufferable DORKS together.

Just like the most amazing love always is. :D

haha. I love Angel/Cordy too. A doomed pairing if ever there was one.

Arrrrrrrgh. Angel/Cordy SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN DOOMED, THOUGH. But now I'm imagining David B and Charisma having a go at the wall scene and omgheartbreak.
