Here via the newsletter :).

I know the show is supposed to be about the average human who does the best they can in extraordinary circumstances (fighting the supernatural). The whole being taken over by an angel is the antithesis of that - especially for Dean who has always been presented as the more average of the two while Sam had his psychic powers and everything.

I don't know that the particular way they're handling this makes this necessarily true. Zachariah flat out said that Dean's only special power is his ability to let the archangel Michael come to earth and do all the work. If he's telling the truth and Dean and Sam find a way to defeat Lucifer anyway (with no angel powers and no demon powers) then you really do have the story of average men struggling through extraordinary circumstances.

I do really hope that Dean and Sam find another way to defeat Lucifer. Thought, at the moment, I'm at a loss as to how they'll go about it without angelic assistance. Hopefully the writers have something inventive up their sleeves...

I did not see Micheal/Dean thing coming but it's so good! Part of me wanted to see it even though I don't want Dean to go anywhere. I wonder if it will ever play out.

Agreed Dean was very hardcore with Zachariah and I loved it. He was like the Dean of old. I wonder if this hardcore Dean will keep this up.

Love that Castiel (best surprise ever!) saved Sam and Dean and was all awesome as I knew he’d be! So, based on what Castiel was insinuating (which threw me for a loop) was that the angels hadn’t taken Sam and Dean away from the danger of Lucifer (by placing them on an airplane), but it looks like God has returned (or maybe he just made it seem like he’d “left the building” in Zachariah’s words in the S4 finale) and got the brothers to safety.

…*is distracted* So excited to see Castiel again! He looked a little different - loved how he was more kickass and authoritative. He seems to be fitting into the role of renegade angel rather well though I’m shamelessly biased. Agreed he looked different. Did they change his hair? He's ( ... )

That moment made the episode for me - I was like, "They're really going there?? OMG."

Well, maybe they could have a "What if Michael took over Dean?" scenario, but in the actual fight that doesn't happen? Then those who want Dean as Dean to defeat Lucifer are happy and those curious to see Dean taken over by an angel will have a glimpse...

I got Season 1! Dean vibes, for some reason. Just his actions and his look reminded me of how he was in the past. I wonder if that's intentional. I do miss S1! Dean because he seemed much more at ease and sure of himself... I definitely don't mind him being all hardcore - Dean's not going to let angels like Zachariah push him around.

The more I think about it the more I want to see Micheal but not in Dean's body. I want them to interact. I want Dean as himself to defeat Lucifer. I want Dean/Sam/Cas to defeat Lucifer together.

I hope this season will be Dean moving forward. The devil is walking on earth, angels and demons played games behind the scenes and now the world is ( ... )

Nah, all's good. Will definitely remember that Thursday night isn't The Real Housewives of Atlanta night, but Supernatural night!
