One Friday a few weeks back I put £15 of PAYG on my Oyster card and set out by train from St Pancras International to Tooting. Because of signal fail and the bloke at Streatham letting my train go without me ("Oh yeah you said you wanted Tooting didn't you? That was your train, yeah I know there was no announcement, next one is at twenty past") it took me TWO HOURS. When I went to come home again my Oyster card registered a balance of minus 90 pence and wouldn't let me through. I called Oyster and they did indeed credit me back £15 straight away, I hope you get your money back as well. The 404 thing is something else; way to go TFL...

Oyster is usually fine it's just I *always* have some problem setting it up, which is almost always because I request a pickup from Greenwich. It's been a while since my last travelcard purchase and I thought they might have fixed things by now, especially given they put in shiny new Oystercard readers only a few months ago.

Did you use the online system to buy it? I always just buy them from the ticket machines at the station and have never had a problem.

Yeah, I used to do everything via the ticket machines but I thought I'd give the online method a try (which rarely works). Bizarrly when I swiped my Oystercard just now to get a travelcard it asked if I would like to continue from the end date of the travelcard that never went through.
