To say that it was an army was both an exaggeration, and an understatement

A few minutes earlier, Vergil Sparda had been walking past the inns, towards the Magical Tea House. Xellos had actually contacted HIM, with a promise of information, on the condition of meeting in person. He had been suspicious that it was a trap, but there was nothing in this world that he couldn't handle

The battalion continued to march forward, seemingly unconcerned with the lone tamer and digimon walking down the street in front of them. Even with the inns behind Vergil, much of the advancing forces' attention focused on him.

A slight commotion filled the front line squad, and after a few moments, a Peckmon swept out of formation and sprinted at double-time down the street towards him. "By the authority of Tetha's military, you are ordered to lay down on the ground and surrender!" it ordered as it reached him, snapping to attention in front of him and staring down at him.

Vergil didn't even miss a step on his way. "I recognise no authority in any world, let alone this travesty," Vergil announced. "You and your army will step aside, or I will sweep you aside. Do not make me say it again."

"I'm not in the habit of repeating myself to fools!" The Peckmon announced. "KUNAI WING!"

It snapped its wing forward, sending several razor-sharp Kunai flying towards Vergil.

Vergil's hands shot up in a blur. He caught each and every one of the kunai between his fingers, and with a cold glower, he flicked his hands out and sent them each right back into the Peckmon, faster than they'd flown before.

The Peckmon gave a brief scream, before it was cut off as it was reverted to a digiegg. Vergil was unmoved, and he took another step forward. "I'm not in the habit of repeating myself to corpses," he called out, loud enough for most of the Battalion to hear him. "But for the benefit of the living, I will say again. Step aside, let me pass, or I will destroy you. I will not say this again."

With his foot, Vergil pushed the Peckmon egg out of the center of the road, and he lowered his hand to the hilt of Yamato at his side.

[Outside the Inns]

Terra was now outside with the group who would be holding back the army. They needed to buy enough time for everyone else to get out through the evacuation routes...and they needed to buy them even more time to figure out how to truly escape, if the lightposts really were blocked.

Or maybe... Maybe DATS-- No. She stopped that thinking. They couldn't amass anything in time.

She stood, fists clenched but trembling, ready to fight.

[ ooc: Okay, this is the fighting post! If anyone can think of any other threads, please make a general one like this-- like if you want to log the evacuations, please do! Keep in mind there will likely be no fighting there. Any other ideas, go ahead with or run by someone (mods or high ups in the Inns) if you are not sure. ]

"Terra...!" Sasami called out, racing over to her teammate and friend. Jason and Cruger had already joined the group and Sasami had made sure Karin was one of those who escaped. "...this is it, huh?"

She looked out towards the army. "A lot different than before... though, I think we can handle it..."

A pink blur raced up, and landed in a crouch next to the two other young women.

"Terra-chan, Sasami-san," said Mako's voice from behind the helmet. "I'm... ready to fight."

Meanwhile, Kevin was approaching this situation with his usual grace under fire.

"Come on, everyone here get your weapons," he said, standing over a box of appropriated Commandramon M-16 Assassins. "Anyone who can't fight, or needs one, come and get a weapon. Just remember, you owe me once this is over."

"Please continue down the corridor, the stairs are just ahead!"

Tiffany was drifting up and down the halls of the Inn gathering up anyone who'd rather slip away from the fight while the fools outside held off the army.

"Remember discretion is the better part of valor." Wizardmon commented flying not too far from Tiffany.

Following Jinx's directions the escapes would take the corridor to Yzma's lab, from there a staircase had been opened into the lab proper and a path had been marked leading to a large launch bay.

Jack Spicer had used this bay to deploy his robots around the Inns for various purposes, often defense, but today it would serve as an express escape route.

Down in the bay Stormy was instructing people as best she could...which wasn't saying much because she'd only just learned how this technology worked.

"OK so...basically this tunnel leads to the edge of Tetha, the lightpost nearby can be used to go anywhere else you like. We've got someone by the lightpost with data for The Hyperion Inn in Neon or the Gull Reef Resort in Axoryi if you want, but if you have somewhere else in mind your welcome to it. Stick together, try not to rush but don't stop if you don't have to. We don't know how bad it is up there."

She had her gun holstered and hidden under her coat, feeling an itch to be where the fighting was, but taking care of the escapees seemed more important.

At the end of the escape route Keiichi Morisato and Tamiya his Digimon stood at the exit to t he tunnel and by the lightpost, "Come on everyone almost there, we're safe so far but let's not waste time." His smile was reassuring despite his own nerves that any minute now trouble would find them.
