Oh, come now... I can at least torture them a little can't I? No lasting marks or anything... maybe...

Our bargaining depends on the prisoners being treated well and released in one piece. However, this is an excellent opportunity for gaining intelligence.

Oh all right... though I do wish to give the girl Terra some... special attention. She's a bit of a pet project of mine. I was so close to turning her last time, and I wish to do a bit more experimentation...

[Creepy giggles go here.]

Well, if she happens to defect while in our care, it is hardly our fault if she is not among those who are returned.

[That's a long speech and a lot of details for this kid. He was already positively pissed by your second paragraph, Count, and once it's finally over? He explodes.]

You what? Where are they?

You don't really expect me to tell you that, now do you?

What kind of--!

Who did you take? Did you hurt them?

Your comrades have suffered no permanent damage so far, I assure you, and are being treated with charity.

[It's not surprise or curiosity in the question--it's pure authority, the kind of which she hasn't had to show since arriving here.]

What are you doing?

Taking the initiative in this conflict, as should have been done long before now.

You're taking a blind stab at chance. What if they can't hand the crystal over? Did you think of that?

Aww, man. So much for a peaceful answer. But, I guess this is another way of ending the war without killing anyone.

Indeed it is. If one side gains a decisive victory over the other, the war will end and we will all be able to return home with our lives, without any need for further violence. All that is necessary is that Cosmos is made to submit. I am pleased that you understand.

It doesn't exactly feel right, but it might be the best choice we have. I mean, we do want Chaos to win, right? It's not like he's all about war and destruction like Cosmos says, is he?

The words of one's enemy regarding their adversary are rarely trustworthy, I'm afraid. Cosmos has a vested interest in convincing her followers to despise Chaos and us to distrust him, so that they will fight harder against him and we will be more hesitant. Unfortunately, that is the way of all wars. It is up to us to see through to the truth.

A ransom!? If you think we'll give you the crystal that easily, you don't know what you're up against.

I am sorry to hear that. I can only hope that the rest of your side will be more willing to compromise.

There won't be any need for compromise once I've rescued the prisoners.

Rash boasts will accomplish nothing. You do not even know their location, and I assure you, they are very well guarded.
