Where: Dr. Joshua Sweet's Medical office, and the exam room annexed with it.
When: Your appointment time
Who: EVERYONE.  Yeahhhh, that means YOU.
What: An introduction of sorts.  It's your first appointment with Sweet!
Warnings: None.

When you come by the office, you notice the door is open.  He's in his chair, looking over a manila file folder.  It's ( Read more... )

"Apart from the broken ribs?" asked Elisa with a wry smile, although the various injuries she'd sustained during the trip to Berk had healed up well over the last few weeks. Although the appointment couldn't hurt, it was more of a formality than anything else.

She sat down opposite the doctor, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as she gave him a smile of greeting.

"Elisa Maza," she said, by way of an introduction, "Although I'm guessing you already know that."

He was browsing her medical records, after all.

"Broken ribs, huh? It seems I missed when you folks needed me most. Can't say I have bad timing for the most part, but I gotta this time. I'm late."

Sweet tossed the file down on the counter and scoots his chair up a bit.

"So, you prefer Maza? Elisa? Miss Maza? Whatta they call you?"

So did this. I'd say we're about equal.) newyorkbynight December 13 2010, 21:35:39 UTC
"It looks like the headmaster is doing his best to make up for that mistake," Elisa noted. Back in Manhattan, she'd needed a doctor on more than one occasion. It would good to have one on staff. Just in case.

"Elisa's fine," she said with a smile, "Although I got 'Maza' a lot on the force."

"Right then. Maza it is. Don't want you to feel any different just because you're here. I'm a 'just in case' kind of guy. Not really into the preventative things, because I show up when stuff has already happened, mos' of the time. So, aside from you comin' in when you need me, I'd like to think I can see everyone here outside the office. You're more than a cop, I'm more than a doctor."

He rose from his chair and motioned to the table. "So, have a seat, Maza. I'm gonna wanna see those ribs. How they healin' so far?"

"How I'm doing?"

A man who's paid to probe at people. Not a bad job.

Chel sits down, her eyes moving over him with a grin painted across her face. She wonders what the academy could possibly have on her. Sure, the weather here's a little different her than El Dorado, but nothing's hit her more than exhaustion after a few nights with Tulio.

"I don't know..." she whimpers, pouting her lips innocently. "My legs have been sore."

Ohhh boy. Sweet knew that type. She wasn't the first thing to bat her eyes at him, and she wouldn't be the last. He was a doctor, and he'd pass it off because he's gotta be what he is.

"You tried a bath? Relaxin'? Taken anything?"

He rose from his chair and took a good look at her. She wore just about as much as an Atlantean. Her style was tribal. Aztec? Hmm. He'd have to look that all up later. He'd been working for mercenaries too long, but he couldn't appraise her like the rest of the team. Not like one Helga Sinclair.

But now wasn't the time for that. Time to get to the medical stuff.

Quasi's reluctant to move past the doorway, but he does make his way into the room, inch by lumbering inch. Finally he stands in front of Sweet, bowed a little more than usual.

"I-I'm doing fine," Quasi says. He's wringing his hands, nervous, unsure as to how this works. The concept of visiting a doctor is foreign to him.

Sweet smiles. "No need to be nervous! Just take a seat that chair right over there." He thumbs over to the seat just a few feet away from his desk.

"Just gonna have a little talk first."

Right. A talk. That sounds okay. Quasi smiles back weakly and hobbles over to take a seat, folding his hands in his lap in an effort to stop his nervous fiddling.

"A t-talk about... what?"

Sweet noticed the nervous fiddling, but paid it no mind. Most people didn't like doctors, and that was something he was used to. At least with non-mercenary and non-military... who still avoided what they could with him anyway.

"Jus' how you doin. Lettin' me know things about yo'self. Me? I got a knee that's messed up. Busted it a while back when I was with the Rough Riders, and it never quite healed right. Not somethin' that makes things hard, but every once in a while, it acts up. Things like that."

Oh dear, Lottie is visually pretty nervous.

She's never liked doctors.

Ever. She hated the smell of the offices, the stethiscopes, the needles, the popsickle sticks, the cotton balls and swabs, the little device they stuck in the patient's nose and ears, the feel of rubber gloves... Ugh.

Deep down, even child Lottie knew this was because doctors had failed to save her mother. She had later found out from Big Daddy that he brought in numerous doctors too, but it didn't matter. Her mother was taken from her anyways.

"Hi there, doctah..."

Nope. Not budging from that doorway.

Poor thing looked downright scared. Sweet knew that nobody liked doctors. Bearers of bad news on far too many occasions. Didn't seem to matter how many times he'd kept a man from dying. The times he couldn't always stuck with him, with the man's family.

Seems with this one, it was the case.

"Come on in. Just sit on down. Don't worry bout the table. There's just a chair right there."

Maybe the chair would help.

"A-alight."

Lottie warily took a few unsure steps before scurring over to the chair.

"S-so... what's goin' t'happen now?"

Sweet smiled and put her file to the side.

"I jus' wanna know about you. I'll go first. Tell you a little somethin' about me. When I was a kid, growin' up on the Kansas plains, every autumn those leaves would fall and it'd be beautiful. Then the rain would come and I was a snifflin' mess. Made my nose act right up. Mold. I don't like mold. Well, I don't mind it, but my body does. Studyin' with the medicine men taught me how to get rid of all that sufferin'."

He leaned forward in his chair, setting an arm across one of his legs.

"What about you?"

Aqua wasn't afraid of doctors nor was she nervous about them per say...she was just a bit...hesitant when it came to seeing them. She was able to heal herself, but a quick check up wouldn't do any harm, right? Right.

The blue haired girl nodded her head before coming into Dr. Sweet's office. For a moment she wondered if he was named sweet because maybe he gave out candy to his patience...or that he was really nice. Or perhaps it was a combination of both?

"This...won't take long, will it?" Aqua asked, hoping he would say no. ...And maybe not fill those beakers up with anything.

"Not at all. Just gettin' to know you. I've got your records, but it does me no good without your face and yourself."

He smiled at her and plopped the file down on the counter top.

"So, anything I should know about? I've been told it hasn't been just school around here, and I wanna know if there's anything I need to be watchin' out for, or helpin' get better."

"I'm not sure. I haven't been here long myself...
Aqua explained, still a bit concerned she would have to fill a vile or two of something. She had an idea of what that something could be....but she didn't want it to happen.

"But I train, I stick to a healthy diet and I'm a hard working student..." Hopefully that was enough information for him.

"That's all fine. Yet there's somethin' I wanna know. Did you go on that expedition to Berk?"

He looked at her questioningly. Most people who went on the expedition had injuries that weren't listed. Most of 'em had gone untreated, and he didn't like that.
