Where: Dr. Joshua Sweet's Medical office, and the exam room annexed with it.
When: Your appointment time
Who: EVERYONE.  Yeahhhh, that means YOU.
What: An introduction of sorts.  It's your first appointment with Sweet!

"Apart from the broken ribs?" asked Elisa with a wry smile, although the various injuries she'd sustained during the trip to Berk had healed up well over the last few weeks. Although the appointment couldn't hurt, it was more of a formality than anything else.

She sat down opposite the doctor, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as she gave him a smile of greeting.

"Elisa Maza," she said, by way of an introduction, "Although I'm guessing you already know that."

He was browsing her medical records, after all.

"Broken ribs, huh? It seems I missed when you folks needed me most. Can't say I have bad timing for the most part, but I gotta this time. I'm late."

Sweet tossed the file down on the counter and scoots his chair up a bit.

"So, you prefer Maza? Elisa? Miss Maza? Whatta they call you?"

So did this. I'd say we're about equal.) newyorkbynight December 13 2010, 21:35:39 UTC
"It looks like the headmaster is doing his best to make up for that mistake," Elisa noted. Back in Manhattan, she'd needed a doctor on more than one occasion. It would good to have one on staff. Just in case.

"Elisa's fine," she said with a smile, "Although I got 'Maza' a lot on the force."

"Right then. Maza it is. Don't want you to feel any different just because you're here. I'm a 'just in case' kind of guy. Not really into the preventative things, because I show up when stuff has already happened, mos' of the time. So, aside from you comin' in when you need me, I'd like to think I can see everyone here outside the office. You're more than a cop, I'm more than a doctor."

He rose from his chair and motioned to the table. "So, have a seat, Maza. I'm gonna wanna see those ribs. How they healin' so far?"

His manner was easy and friendly. Elisa, who had met more than her fair share of doctors, liked him immediately.

"I try not to judge people by their appearances," she said as she took the offered seat, "And I definitely try not to judge them by their jobs."

If she had been more judgmental, she wouldn't have allowed herself to become friends with people like Elizabeth Swann or Jack Sparrow. And she certainly wouldn't have grown so close to Goliath

"They're healing well," she replied. "I was lucky."

Lucky that things hadn't been more serious and lucky that her injuries had been patched up in the field.

"I know a thing or two about lucky."

He wasn't kidding, either. Lieutenant Helga Sinclair was his walking example of what he considered lucky. How she survived that fall, let alone was able to recover from it? Should have been impossible.

It was somethin' about that crystal that did it. Three places where your back is broken? Yeah, death. That woman woke up, not a break in that spine. Sure, the recovery was long, painful, and dangerous enough. First time he ever saw her take something for pain.

"Let's hope it don't come to that too often."

"Me too. It comes with the job."

The job and the impossible, wonderful friendships that she'd made. Although Elisa had found herself in trouble far more frequently since meeting the gargoyles, she still considered herself lucky. She wouldn't have traded it for anything.

"Well. Looks like you're doin' pretty fine."

He stands up and offers a handshake. "You start feelin' off, you can always call me. Or, I'll be in here. Sure I'll see you around. It was nice gettin' to know you a little bit, Maza."

"I'll remember that," she assured him, getting to her feet and returning the handshake. "And it's a small campus. We'll definitely see each other around."

"Right. Be seein' you then." He shook her hand firmly and gave a nod. He still had yet to figure the campus out, so he'd be around. At least he now could talk to somebody.
