"I've never met someone who didn't want me back," Charlie said, and Neville felt his lips part slightly with sheer surprise over the statement. "I thought you were just playing hard to get. I didn't realise you really don't-"
"That's a bit much," Neville said, annoyed. "You just expect everyone to fawn over you. Take you out for a coffee at Madam Puddifoot's?"
"Of course, not. But, if I pursue someone, it's usually because I felt something there. I thought I'd sensed attraction... I suppose I'm just wrong."
Charlie turned to leave again.
