Shooting for the White House

Mar 05, 2004 22:43

I lost a filling today. Wahhh!!! So tomorrow, I have to not only say goodbye to rahael, but say hello to the dentist.

From the first political preference quiz disguised as a first-person shooter:

I came out a left-wing communist by going back and shooting the hunter instead of the soccer mom. These guys do not know left-wing communists! There is no evil like a soccer mom. At least that lets me not hate myself, being from the south and all.

I played youth soccer, and my mom is as left-wing communist as they come -- in fact, I'd put her progressive credentials up against anyone's -- so I've noticed and been bothered by this demonization of soccer moms.

Anyway, typical Democrats think less of people from the South? Not in November elections.

But I have been a soccer mom, and it was not my own most left moment. And hunter guys are also unfairly demonized--with a little push, they could turn into fine partisan fighters (just have to hope they come down on the best side). Whereas I don't see the revolutionary potential in soccer moms, though they're probably more likely to be educated voters (just pondering how that one change moved me into the far left camp).

I came out typical democrat, too. Have these people ever met any typical democrats at all?

Are there typical Democrats? I thought it was the party of special interests.

True, but you're a libertarian and I'm 'foaming at the mouth' non-partisan. I think they could do a better job of weeding us marginal types out. (fake grumble grumble)

PS If you see this, Rah, best wishes! And I guess I have the same sentiment if you don't!

Damn! I'm a typical Democrat, too. How many results are there for this thing?

And, good-bye to Rahael? No computer and internet where she'll be? Or is it the time difference? I don't like that. Probably not as much as you don't like that, though.

O-O

Well, we have no idea whether or not there will be internet cafes, but we're not counting on it.

There are five results for the quiz: typical Democrat, typical Republican, middle-of-the-road independent, left-wing communist and right wing zealot.

Best of luck with the tooth! (And best of luck for rahael, too, of course!)

Well, I came out as a typical democrat, not a left leaning communist sympathiser. (I suppose if I'd shot the hunter instead of the soccer mom, it might have been different, but I thought the hunter was a Sandinista or Che Guevera.) I had a lot of trouble with deciding between the two. Of course, the Bible thumper was easy. On the other hand, my choices may simply reflect a hithertofore unknown level of self hatred. As Dherblay notes, I am a former soccer mom and a current Bible thumper. Oh well. On the other hand, Dherblay was an atypical soccer player and I have been accused of being heterodox (at best, atheistic at worst) on the Bible side ( ... )

Hi Mom!

I'm holding the line on punctuation creep: it's d'Herblay. My own mother, mispunctuating my name.

I did not know that about Jane Fonda. Why would she visit Ludlow?

Sorry about the punctuation. I'll try to be better in the future. Jane Fonda used to visit one of the leftists in Ludlow--that really narrows it down I know. Someone who lived on Ashwood or further over. I never actually saw her, but I'd usually hear afterwards when she had been in town ( ... )
